We are headed to the Cape tonight and are staying through Monday! I used to go for a month every summer when I was a kid but I haven't been back in SO long. DH has never been so I want to show him a good time! DS is 8 months and pretty portable and easygoing.
We've got a few things planned but figured it wouldn't hurt to find out other peoples favorite things to do/restaurants/hidden gems

Ooh I love the Cape in the early fall! Though its going to feel like summer I guess. Where are you staying? We usually do plenty of mini golf, since its a compromise if Dh wanting to golf every minute o the day and me wanting to see him :). And ice cream. If you have bikes or want to rent I love biking the rail trail (we are usual in Brewster so it's right there). Not sure if you can rent a baby seat or trailer though.
Have fun! I think we are going to bring our baby out there to see dh's grandmother and do our first overnight away from the house in October.

@Foodnerd81: We are staying in Brewster, right on the rail trail so that is definitely on our to-do list! I think we can rent a baby trailer for our bikes too. We're on the fence about a whale watch...not sure it's a great idea to bring a baby on a 4 hour boat ride, lol!

@LindsayInNY: That thought did cross my mind....although I think I might try and make an argument that a day trip isn't long enough and that we'll need to take another long weekend trip sometime. Lol, wish me luck!

@petunia354: I've only done a whale watch once and we got really sea sick (bad weather) so I would not be inclined to bring a baby on it, but I don't think that's the norm!

Wellfleet Drive-In!
Shopping on the Chatham Main Street and stopping at the Candy Manor in Chatham.
Arnolds in Eastham is my favorite for clam strips but they get busy quickly.
Ben & Jerry's in Eastham and then going to First Encounter Beach on the bay side and walking out to explore at low tide.
The Cape Cod National Seashore Visitor's Center is pretty cool.
My grandparents always take us to brunch at Brax Landing in Harwich.
Definitely biking the Rail Trail!
Love the food at the Jailhouse Tavern in Orleans.
There's a seal cruise to Monomoy Island off of Chatham that I've always wanted to do..

I also know a ton of restaurants near Brewster (I used to work a hotel in Brewster) so let me know if you want some specific recommendations.

I don't know much about specifics of the lower cape, but I will say that if you are swimming at all stay away from seals. TRUST ME. We are upper/mid-cape people. But, I do second the drve in, eapecially if you have a baby who is a good sleeper. I think the flea market is still running there, too on the weekends. If you are meat eaters, head to Hyannis and go to the Brazillian Grille. Semi-pricey but it's a huge buffet and the meat is amazing!
