DH was supposed to be gone when C was born. At the last minute, another guy from the shop volunteered to take his spot so he could be here.
I am grateful every, single day for that.

And that is exactly why DH chose to be stationed here--so he wouldn't be deployed and miss his son's birth. -
there was a baby story (I think..one of those shows) where the husband/boyfriend was deployed and came home when the baby was a couple months old. they got the return home on video. so emotional!

I saw that on facebook and cried too!! Ugh. Especially because our next door neighbor is deployed again and he was gone for the first 6 months of his 12 month old daughters life. The men and women who serve for our country truly are incredible people.

We were very fortunate that DH got to come home from Afghanistan for R&R and be there for DS's birth. He left to go back when DS was 10 days old and didn't return until DS was almost 4 months old. Hardest thing I've ever done! These pictures always hit close to home!

oh my gosh I literally teared up too... this is sooo so so sooo heartbreaking...
My best friend just found out she is pregnant, and her husband is getting deployed to Afghanistan three weeks after her due date. She is so distraught and upset. I cannot even imagine. I just... wow... no words. I don't even know how to help her
