IT. Still can't watch it. Or even read the book, even though I generally savor Stephen King novels.

@FutureMrsMcK: my mom would never let its watch out, and to this day i have never watched the whole thing

The Shining and Carrie. I really like them both now, but OMG when I was a kid I couldn't even look at some scenes - (the twins in the shining and the death of Carrie's mother...shudder)

@mrsmenow: Hands down...pet cemetery! I STILL have nightmares about it.

@mrsmenow: @sarbear: Yes. I still check under my bed sometimes just in case there's someone waiting for me under there with a scalpel. Gage was uber creepy.

The Exorcist.... hands down. I couldn't function normally for what felt like forever afterward!

Children of the Corn. A friend's mom let us watch it when we were in middle school. I think my Mom might have called her up and lit into her after I had nightmare after nightmare afterwards.

@FutureMrsMcK: The movie didn't bother me. But the book. The horrors, I had nightmares the whole time I was reading but I still had to finish it.

@JerricaBenton: The Shining! I watched it alone (while babysitting, after the kiddos had gone to bed) . . . on a dark and stormy night. I haven't been able to make myself watch it again!

@Honeybee: omg I love that movie! But yeah it was disturbing!
For me: Nightmare on Elm Street. My mom said I wasn't allowed to watch it, but I had friends w/ less strict parents and I watched it at their place! Needless to say, there was a lot of "I told you so." coming from my mom! lol Mom knows best, eh?!

Some John Grisham movie...I was 12, and the murder scene at the beginning *freaked* me out.
But I'm a total wimp, and I still won't watch scary movies. Nope.

IT! Ugghh, scared me so bad I wouldn't leave my mom's side for weeks. I've tried reading the book like 5x but haven't been able to finish it because I get scared.

Nightmare on elms st and children of the corn. I watched both at friends' houses because my mom would kill me. I was scared of the dark for awhile:/

Nightmare on Elm Street. We had a boiler room when I was a kid and my older brother totally put a Freddy Krueger hand in there and put ketchup everywhere like blood. He then locked me in there and turned off the lights.
I think he scarred me for life!

IT! Seeing the cover still skeers the bejesus out of me. As a courtesy to others I always turn the movie around when I see it in the store.
My brother & I watched it when we were home alone one night...we kept switching the channel during the commercials to the news to calm us down. Clowns terrify me to this day.

@Honeybee: I'd forgotten about this, very very scary as a kid!
It's not a horror, but Terminator 2 gave me many nightmares!

I watched the first few minutes of the Exorcist and that was it for me! I do NOT watch scary movies as an adult, get scared when scary music plays in suspense films, and hate the halloween season b/c scary movie trailers come on TV! *shiver*

@runsyellowlites: me too! I hate halloween also as I get so scared seeing people dressed up!

@illumina: DH will mute the TV & I cover my eyes until it's over! Seriously! I hate scary movies & wish that people just wouldn't make them! lol

Chucky for sure...but also Jurassic Park! Gave me night mares for a year, no joke. I had to be taken out of the theater because I was crying so hard.

The ring.
I was like 16....that still counts as being a kid right?
It was the first horror movie I ever saw.

@runsyellowlites: This!! I do the same thing during Halloween season! Hate it.
Scariest I have ever seen was the Exorcist, I was in 5th grade and had nightmares for YEARS. ugh.

@lilyann: My ex husband LOVED scary movies! He practically made me watch one of the newer exorcist movies & the ring, the grudge, and anything else he could! He would play the preview or start it without me realizing & then tell me "well just go to bed if you don't want to watch it".. of course by that time I was too scared to be by myself upstairs in the dark! UGH! I'm so glad my DH now is compassionate to my needs!

the children under the stairs. I'm still afraid of basements to this day.
