My usual BareEscentuals powder foundation isn't working for me these days. I've gone back on the Retin-A and my skin is so dry. I use Yes To Carrots thick moisturizing cream but you can still see flakes when I used the BE foundation powder.
I think I need a tinted moisturizer.
I'm looking for both budget and high-end options.
Anyone?

Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer is fantastic. But it's about $45/tube, so it's not cheap!

Lately I have been using MAC Face and body foundation or the new Revlon Nearly Naked foundation. I love both! I have to set mine with powder to get either to last all day at work though. They are both on the light to medium side for coverage

It's not exactly tinted moisturizer, but I use Garnier's Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector BB cream, and it's only like $10 for a decent sized tube. It's tinted, and definitely moisturizes well, plus it has the other benefits of a BB cream. I have funky skin that breaks out easily, but dries out just as easily if I over treat. I've noticed my skin looks a gagillion times better since using this BB cream every day. I typically use it under liquid foundation because I need the coverage, but I've actually gone out with just the BB cream & a little powder on and felt comfortable.

Laura Mercier! I love it...lightweight yet moisturizing with good coverage. You might want to pick up her moisturizing primer too!

@rachiecakes: it's basically an all-in-one cream. It's supposed to replace all of the creams and serums - moisturizer, primer, foundation, and sunscreen. It minimizes pores and makes skin look smoother/healthier.
ETA: MAC has a nice BB cream, but it's $30. If you're looking high end, most top of the line cosmetic brands have a BB. I find the Garnier cheapy stuff from Walmart works well for me, so I don't need to spend $100!

I second BB cream! I LOVE the stuff and it's either BB cream or Bare Minerals for my sensitive skin! I mostly use ones from Asia, but I've tried the Garnier one (that one made me breakout) and a few from Sephora. Sephora will actually give you free samples of whatever you ask so I would suggest going to get a few different ones and trying them! A little goes a long way - like tinted moisturizer, but better!

I use Garnier BB cream, but it makes me greasy unless I apply powder over it, and touch up throughout the day. If you are dry though I bet it would be great!

Another vote for Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer! I prefer the one that comes in the light grey package, rather than the darker (brown?) package.
Now I'm curious about BB cream...

I used to use Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer too. They make an illuminating tinted moisturizer that is more moisturizing than their reg tinted moisturizer. I had the primer but stopped using it because I felt it was too heavy, but maybe that would help if you feel your skin is dry?
I recently switched to Bobbi Brown's bb cream but I wouldn't recommend it if dry skin is your concern because I've found that it's on the drier side. Whew that was long.

I used Laura Mercier for years until my friend (who also used LM) discovered that the Neutrogena version is the exact same thing. For the price difference, it was a no-brainer. Since it's winter I'm using a heavier foundation, but I switch to the tined in the summer.

I usually just mix my regular foundation (MUFE's HD) with Cetaphil moisturizer. Works really, really well.

@Mrs. Jacks: Haha I'm sure it's not 100% true, but I did switch to the Neutrogena and was very happy with it. I actually also switched from using Chanel concealer to Neutrogena healthy skin eye brightening and I'll never go back. I actually like it better!!!

@Thehistoryofus: The package will say BB cream! It actually stands for Blemish Balm (I think?), but it will say BB on the label. Also, just about every cosmetic company makes one, so you don't necessarily have to look for the Garnier brand. I tried Cover Girl too since I use their foundation & powder, and I liked it, but the Garnier tube is bigger, so I felt like I was getting a better deal. I'm cheap.

I use the Josie Maran one. It's great and all natural. My skin is sensitive and I actually started using it for the same reasons (Retin-A was making me flaky and BE was highlighting the issue...).

Another vote for Laura Mercier TM - but I love the Dior BB cream also. But since I like more of a coverage than BB creams or tinted moisturizers provide (I also battle dry skin) I stick to MAC matchmaster or studio fix fluid.

I have used the cover girl tinted moisturizer for years (now it's labeled as their BB cream). I also recently bought tte CVS version of the Garnier BB cream (because I had 2 coupons so I got it for $5). I have only used it once, but I like it so far! It's a little thick for me, so I might add some of my normal moisturizer to thin it out a bit. DH said he really likes the way it makes me look. lol
