One of my son's friends records short videos to thank guests for coming to her birthday and it's so cute! Her mom then sends the video over email to each parents, along with a short note.
It feels way more "real" than a written card purely from the parents... I'm a fan!
Are video thank you cards popping up in your neighborhood? Would you ever leave one?

We totally do this when the grandparents send gifts! I think it's more meaningful than a card that they are just going to throw away.

I haven't seen it, but I don't like the idea. I want my kid to learn to send a handwritten note, and she LOVES when she receives one. @regberadaisy: Maybe I'm stodgy, but that's why I don't like it. It feels like an easy cop out.

I could get on board with this I think. Are the thank you videos personalized or generic? We always send videos of DD opening gifts she gets in the mail and thanking the sender.

@mrbee: My kid is on the 3rd birthday circuit, so not old. She dictates a note and then draws an L for her name and decorates with stickers. The cards she gets seem the same. I think it's early training for a good life skill. A video is better than nothing, just not my fave

My husband does this, it's great for people that are really far away because the cost of postage is just outrageous overseas.
I am a fan, especially for the younger set.

Great idea! Most people just toss them in the trash anyway, so I say it works!
