I just saw this in my FB feed. A male student taking a university course asked not to work with female students due to religious beliefs and the prof denied his request but the university forced the prof to comply.
Gosh what a sticky situation. While I believe in religious freedom and respecting beliefs, I think I would side with the prof in this case.

The way I see it, he's allowed to not work with his female peers all he wants, but then his marks will reflect that.
The best part is it was an online course? Did he even have to meet these women in person?
I wonder what religion this is.

I believe he has the right to choose but no one should make any special allowances for him. Ifthat affects his marks so be it. TBH I have no time for people like that!

@Snowdrop: yes that makes sense! Nobody can force him to work with someone he doesn't want to interact with, but then he might fail the course/assignment.

Nobody's forcing him to go to that college, anyways, or take that class.
Does he know women will likely exist in the workplace?
Plus, the student said ok. So it didn't bother him too much at the end of the day, it seems

It seems he should've gone to an all male college if he felt that strongly.

I was thinking about this the other day and it occurred to me... what the heck does he plan to do when he's actually in the workforce!?
Last I checked, women are pretty common in almost all feilds these days. I doubt his future boss would be willing to put up with him not talking to his female coworkers. That just isn't going to fly in the real world.
