We need to get DD out of her daycare ASAP, but have been on the waiting lists at the other major centers in town for months with no luck. I've googled, talked to friends, and have no other ideas. Any thought on other pathways to hearing about small in-home centers or nannies? It's a small town, so I'm sure options are limited but I feel like there has to be more out there!

You said it's a small town so I'm not sure if this is an option, but Nextdoor always has questions and suggestions about this kind of thing on there. Alternatively, local mom groups might be able to help, and I think my pediatrician also had a list available?

We went to our county's website, downloaded the list of licensed home day cares, then called each one within a reasonable distance to see about their availability. We visited the ones with space and then checked references. We are so happy with our daycare

We actually found our in home daycare on Craigslist. But a couple other resources I used were local listserv for mom's, the state licensing site for daycares (there is a directory in my state) asking friends. Maybe also check with any churches. Looking for childcare is so hard!
