So, I just called my pediatrician and I am waiting for a call back, but thought I would ask the bees to get some different perspective! We have been putting O down to sleep at around 8:45-9:00ish. She does have acid reflux, but has been on the medication for almost 3 weeks and we have seen some improvement. So, we have been giving her the medication at 8:00, bath, pjs, nurse, sleep. She will sleep from about 9:00-11:30 or 12:00 am. After this, her sleep is SO very restless. Wiggling, turning her head, just can't seem to get comfortable. This has been going on for about 10 days now. We are averaging about 3 or 4 wake ups after that 12:00 wake up to just get her settled. Sometimes I try to nurse, but she doesn't seem hungry. She doesn't ever wake up, she just can't get settled and she seems so uncomfortable. So...what do you guys think this?
a) Her acid reflux flaring up and bothering her at night
b) gas pains? she does seem to fart a lot a night and all the wiggling makes me think gas.....but why is she so gassy?!?
c) overtiredness? She wakes up from a nap around 5:30-5:45ish. We have to give her the Nexium at 8:00, so bedtime is naturally around 8:45 because she can't eat for 30 minutes. So, sometimes she will take a short cat nap around 7:00 for 20 or 30 minutes. I would like to push bedtime earlier, but she wakes up at 11:00 or 12:00 regardless of her bedtime at 7:30, 8:00, 8:30, we have tried it all. She always takes a MONSTER nap in the morning after her first morning wake up (we are talking like 2-2.5 hours). I think its just because she's so tired from all her crappy sleep in the night. Its like whatever is bothering her at night magically disappears by the morning. Her naps after the monster nap are usually 45 minutes.
d) restless sleep is normal for a baby! get over yourself and just face the facts that you are destined to only sleep 4 hours broken up all night. sleep is for the weak!
Okay, so that is my novel. Hope you guys have some advice? Oh, she's 14 weeks today, by the way!
