This might be a silly question but I'm looking into buying reusable swim diapers for DD. Does she just wear the reusable swim diapers as bottoms or does she wear her swim suit bottom OVER the reusable swim diaper?

Either, depending on how cute the diaper is
I've only used one recently, but it matched her rash guard so I just had her on the reusable diaper and rash guard. She pooped in the pool and everything (yay) and it was contained.

We do swim trunks over the swim diaper partly because that's a rule at the ymca pool I just got a cheap iPlay swim diaper from target- so it wasn't really cute, just for function.

We've done a plain white diaper with a cute suit over and then I had a cute ruffled diaper with a rash guard as well.

Before he was walking just the diaper and a rash guard. Last summer i did trunks...more coverage.
side note...if you can, find a diaper that snaps on the sides. Much easier to take off! I like applecheeks.

@Mrs. Lion: I've been looking at apple cheeks- are they pretty much always $20? Seems expensive since the iplay ones are $10 or under but I also see the benefits (after splashing poopy water all over our bathroom pullig the iplay one down).

@Foodnerd81: ours have lasted 2 summers so far and I anticipate at least 1 more with my son and 2-3 with my newborn. for us it was worth it to not have to worry about the mess but they are definitely pricey.

We put it under the swimsuit if it matches or it's a one piece, or with no cover if if matches and we are pairing with a rash guard. I prefer not to cover it.
We have both Applecheeks and Tuga (similar to iplay) because our pool requires two diapers, so we use Applecheeks under a Tuga. We were able to use the same size Applecheeks last year (bought at 8 months) that now fit my 20 month old, although we had to buy a new Tuga one for this year. I think the other brands are cuter than the Applecheeks but loved not buying a new one this year!
