How long did your LO eat this cereal? We are still mixing it with DD baby food. Just curious when we can stop?

I kept oatmeal around to mix into thinner purees that I wanted thickened up, but I think I stopped feeding it to him as an actual meal by like 7-8 months? He just preferred to eat normal rice and we supplemented with formula so I didn't have an iron concern.

You can stop anytime, my babies pediatrician didn't even recommend starting with those anymore so its really personal preference. If your baby is liking other food or purees you can just go with those.

We don't ever feed it on its own as a meal, only mixing it with purees. I just didn't know if I should continue to do this, or if I could stop now? If I am EBF and she eats purees, is she getting enough iron?

I did a little oatmeal in the beginning but stopped when we started doing finger foods. He had his iron tested at 9 mo and was not low. He's EBF. I think you can go either way but I wouldn't feel bad stopping oatmeal/cereal whenever it's easiest for you

I have only mixed the purees with the cereal when LO had a stomach bug. I think it's fine for you to stop.

DD never really did. I tried to give her oatmeal once or twice but she didn't like it so I stopped.

We skipped it as well. You can definitely stop whenever you're ready.

You can prob stop anytime' we never did cereal either.

@schubr03: most peds will do a finger prick for iron at the 9 or 12m appointment. There are also a lot of iron rich foods you can offer if you're concerned.

I skipped it with DS1 but DS2 is a horrible eater and only just started to eat solids within the past 2 weeks. He just turned 8 mo. I was worried about iron so I got some oatmeal and I have daycare mix with his yogurt in the morning and sometimes to thicken up purees. I'll probably stop after his 9 mo appt or if he actually starts eating really well. This kid just hates food for some reason.

T is 9 months and still gets oatmeal because he likes it and it's quick in the mornings
