When could you tell if your child was a righty or a lefty? ...and which one did they end up being? Our daughter is 3.5 months old right now, and she is definitely much better at using her left hand for grabbing and manipulating toys. I'm wondering if this is a sign that she is going to be a lefty, or if it's just a fluke. Any ideas?

That's about when I was sure my lo was going to be a lefty but everyone was telling me there was no way I could tell that early... well guess who is still a lefty 3 years later? lol

My LO is about 4 mths old and favors her left hand as well. She likes to suck her left thumb (and hand) and grabs with that hand as well.

I honestly believe most babies start out as lefties! My nieces and nephews all started out as lefties. Nephew 1 is now ambidextrous like his dad, nephew 2 is a lefty and niece is a righty.
M is a lefty right now.

C is 3 months and definitely favors her left hand. We'll see.

DD is 2 and still goes back and forth but does favor her right hand. I think she has always favored it.

Around that age, Liv favored her left hand. Her pincer grasp developed more quickly on her left hand as well, but as soon as her right caught up, she displayed pretty dominant right hand preference (shes about a year old)

Interesting! Sounds like lots of babies develop their left side first. I would have thought it would be the opposite...

My son is 2 and he still goes back and forth but I think he favors his right hand. He uses his right to eat and draw. But for everything else, he switches back and forth.
