Has anybody used this? I've read some great reviews but also quite a few reviews that mentioned their baby having flat heads because of it and as a result have needed a helmet.

we're planning on getting 2, one for home and one for at the IL's. I guess the secret is just no letting LO live in it? Not sure.

do you mean the sleeper? i just transitioned my daughter to her crib from her rock and play ..
and yes she does have a flat head .. although we dont see the doctor until next week, not sure if the helmet will be recommended.

@JustlikeHeaven: Yes, the Fisher Price Rock N Play sleeper. How is the transition going?
Please let us know how the doctor's appointment goes.

@WALLAROO: Honestly she is still swaddled so we didnt struggle at all! She has been sleeping in her crib for 6 days now and is getting her full 8 hours of sleep. She is 17 weeks (4 months on saturday)

We used the RnP for the first 5 weeks or so, and then occasionally when we felt her room was too warm (no a/c in her room) and she loved it. It is comfortable, the incline helps with reflux and it is light and portable. We used an extra blanket to make it a bit softer, but crib mattresses are pretty hard so I don't see how the fabric on the RnP can cause any more flat head than any other surface your little one will sleep on.

@shortcake: This is exactly what I was thinking. How can the RnP cause more flat heads than a crib would? Wouldn't it be the same on any surface that they lay their head on for long periods of time. Is there any way to even prevent it if they sleep on their backs?

We don't have a rock and play, so correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't it cradle your LO and keep them relatively stationary? Maybe it causes more flat heads because they can't move their heads from side to side? E Changes the direction he's looking several times a night when he sleeps in his crib.

@kiddsoc: that wasn't my experience with the RnP. It does cradle her a bit, but not in a way that she can't turn her head. Although she only slept in it for a few weeks and wasn't moving very much on her own, but it never felt constrictive.

We used it and it was a lifesaver for reflux issues... No issue at all with a flat head, either!

It literally saved my sanity. She wouldn't sleep anywhere but on me until we were given one at 2 months. Now she sleeps in it everynight and it's her favorite place to hang out if I need to get something done like folding laundry. She turns her head back and forth throughout the night. She is swaddled when she's sleeping, but it keeps her nice and secure. I don't notice any flat head issues, if anything she's getting a little bald spot where she rubs her head moving it. But, that would happen anywhere I think! I plan on getting this for everyone I know, whether they registered for it or not! Ha.

@MaisyMay: it's so easy to fold and lightweight... We just bring ours wherever we go (if it's a relative's house) instead of buying two.
We have one and BabyHabe will only sleep in it at night. She uses her bassinet during the day (we would like for it to be the other way around).

@HabesBabe: We registered for a new one, but figured that if we found a cheap second hand one, it could stay at the IL's. If not, we'll travel with ours.

Just wanted to chime in to say we also used and loved it. No issues with flat head. Baby is perfectly able to turn their head in it -- there are plenty of crib babies who get flat head, too. I think it has less to do with the surface and more to do with the baby and whether they always favor a particular head position.

Ditto to what @bcpmarj said! Except LO has slept in his R&P since day 1....he's now 11 weeks and when he's 12 weeks I'm going to transition him to crib.

We love ours and keep it in the living room. LO sleeps there during the day and she hangs out either there or on her floor play mat when I need to put her down and get something done. She sleeps in a bassinet at night. It is very portable though and I agree that it is great to bring with you places when you go visit.

We had one and loved it. As others have mentioned, it is the perfect size for taking places and made our newborn days much easier. We didn't have any flat head issues or problems transitioning her to the crib. If you are worried about flat head, then you can fold up a receiving blanket and slid it in the pocket between the fabric and the plastic positioner. That's what I did to make it a little softer since I read the reviews.
We also loved it during our mealtimes when she was unable to sit up in the high chair because she was still able to join us at the dinner table.
