Since this is our 2nd kid (and we're done after this), I'm not sure I want to drop $75 on a rock n play. The Bright Starts Sleeper looks very similar (but doesn't rock) and is about 1/2 the price of the rock n play, Is the rocking part that necessary?
Persuade me one way or the other please!

@BabyBoecksMom: we used the RnP and never used the rocking feature. We basically just used it as a bassinet for her to sleep in the first few weeks in our room. Then we moved it to her room and she slept in the RnR in her own room next it her crib.

I really liked the rocking feature. I will often put LO down and rock her with my foot till she falls asleep. You can also rock it with one finger in the middle of the night when you're half asleep. I did this many times her first two months or so. I think it's worth it.

We use the rocking feature every day!
I got the deluxe on sale in Amazon. Just have @mrsbird keep her eyes peeled

We used the rocking feature a ton at night. If LO was fussy I just reached over and rocked it, rather than having to get out of bed for the forth time.

For us the rocking was a great feature. We received a bouncer by bright starts and the quality wasn't great

The rocking feature was invaluable for us. When she would stir at night I could throw my hand over the edge of the bed and rock her gently back to sleep without having to get up. Game changer.

We didn't use the rocking feature a lot only because LO wasn't into it - she wanted to be held if she woke up. But I think it's good to have in case it does work for you.

Rocking was a lifesaver fo rme, we used our foot or my finger in the middle of the night...mine isn't the new fancy one that vibrates, and I think we got it for $40.
