Am I creating a problem for later by rocking/bouncing/swinging my newborn to sleep? Drowsy but awake only causes her to be less drowsy, become more alert, and cry, except when she's in the swing.

I read that even though rocking to sleep might work in the beginning, they will get used to rocking or motion and need it to stay asleep at night, and their sleep will get worse. So I started turning off the swing after she falls asleep (I think this was suggested in Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child.)

Is that enough for now? We even put her down in the pack n play for this morning's nap, which is a first. At least for now she seems to stay asleep...
