What does romance or being romantic mean to you? DH had an interesting talk about it recently and I was curious what others think.

I don't consider myself much of a romantic. For me it's about being together and enjoying our time. So whatever makes that easier- doing chores, taking care of our daughter- whatever helps me feel like everything is in order that he does feels like romance to me. I don't need grand gestures- just bring me a cold beer.

It's the little things. DW made a call for me (to the car dealership) that I was dreading the other day totally spontaneously without me even mentioning I didn't want to do it. I had warm fuzzies

Being thoughtful/attentive and putting me first. Like you see I'm tired and you offer to take a chore off my hand or give me a massage. Or if I'm down, you get me my favorite dessert/food without telling me. Stuff like that.

Last night I was cleaning up the kitchen and heard my husband spraying poopy cloth diapers in the bathroom and legitimately it seemed kind of romantic to me. Definitely an acts of service gal! -

for me its just thinking of me and anticipating my needs and wants. We've had many conversations about what this means because he claims to not be a mind reader. My response is just look around the house and think "how can I make her life easier today?" if that means remembering to take out the trash in the morning or turning on the coffee pot... its just a little selflessness nad wanting to do for the other person. Let me know he was thinking of me

@Alivoo01: Lol yeah! So trying to explain it is hard because I told him it means different things to different people, which I exactly what I'm seeing in this thread.
@Chillybear: It definitely takes effort trying to understand and respond to love languages when you don't share the same ones!

@Chillybear: yes. We talk about being intuitive. To meet needs that appear- like put away the dishes and sweep the kitchen floors while our babe takes 30 minutes to self feed in the high chair. Or straighten up her room while playing. It's nice to feel like I'm not asking for the same stuff over and over.

Candle lit dinners, long walks on the beach at night, snuggling up under a big blanket by the fire, gazing into each others eyes
But with that said, I am not a very romantic person and neither is DH we don't really like these types of things. We'd rather go to a ball game together or have a picnic with friends. Honestly, we'd probably laugh if we tried to gaze into each others eyes! LOL

Trying to do something thoughtful or special for one another everyday. My husband brought freshly cut flowers from our garden to me this morning. It was sweet. My turn!
