I had siblings who ran away from home when I was a kid, so it didn't have much appeal to me by the time I was a teenager.
Hope my kids don't run away! Wondering how common it is... did you ever run away from home as a kid?

I ran away.... to the garage, where I read my book in the van until my dad found me. He was pissed because I'd left a mean note in my room and they really didn't know how long I'd been gone
I think I was 6 or 7.

No, but did frequently think about it.

I did...to a neighbors house down the street. I spent the night there but my parents knew where I was. I am definitely not proud of my behavior as a teenager!

@mrbee: I got into an argument with my mother and she slapped me...but I totally deserved it for the way I was speaking to her. I went through a very difficult couple of years in high school and I credit my mom for helping me get through it and come out on the other side. We have such a close relationship now and I'm still sad when I think of how much I put her through.

@mrbee: I don't remember! I guess I felt that being sent to my room was just an outrageous punishment for whatever I'd been up to. It was definitely an overly dramatic response on my part because I never got into that much trouble growing up... my parents were very fair.

Yes, as a teenager though! I did something bad, can't remember what, and my parents locked me in my room. I climbed out of the window, climbed over our fence and hedge and ran off to my boyfriends. I think his parents called mine when I got there though and they took me home later!

Not REALLY. I would "run away" down to my best friend's house. But my parents knew when I left and where I was. Usually it was because I was upset with my parents for something completely stupid.

No, but I thought about it a lot! Of course I didn't have the guts to do it so I just applied to universities that were really far away and escaped then.
