This is a really really stupid question.
I know when SA is done they are looking to see how fast those swimmers are and how many there are...but why does it take so long to get results? what are they looking for??

No advice, but wanted to say I am so happy you were able to get the testing done. FX for good results!

How long does it take to get results near you? We got DH's results within a few days. They're also checking to see if the shape is normal, how long the sample takes to liquefy, the volume, etc. DH did it twice and the report was a page long each time.

I think it's just health care being slow as usual. It took around a week for us to get our SA results back.

They also see how long they live.....I think our results were after 4-5 days!

Good info to know. I thought they were just sitting on it - typical Canadian labs, but now I'm learning that they are actually looking for things.

@babycanuck: I think it's probably a mixture! I hope you get the results back soon and that they look good.

@babycanuck: I'm in Canada too and they told us it would be 7-10 days but my doctor actually had them back within a couple of days. I know from all the SA's we have had at this point that they actually have to run the tests within an hour of getting the sample for it to be accurate, mostly just processing the reporting is what takes forever!

@babycanuck: partly lab slowness, partly the actual test. Our results took a week I think (in Ontario, too).

I think we got results in 2 days. They know the results that day, but then the tech has to have the dr "officially" sign off on it. I just looked at DHs the other day. There are some complex equations they use to come up with the #s. Even with a 5% morphology they say normal cause he had like 228 million swimmers
over-achiever.
