My SAHM friend watches my son. It's extra income for her and he has a lot of attention. I love it.

this is what I did for awhile it's a nice arrangement if the mom is responsible enough to not put her child's needs first all. the. time. It's important to have someone who is fair and respectful of the fact they're getting paid to watch someone else's child in addition to caring for their own. It can be a slippery slope if it's a friend IMO... I wouldn't hire a friend to be my employee. too awkward and could end badly.

Growing up I went to one occasionally. My best friend was an only child and her mom watched other kids on the side. But there was a lot of kids.. usually 4-6 in the day and then 4 more after school. Not sure that is legal.. it might have been then though.
It worked well I thought, as she only had one of her own and she didn't get special attention, and all the kids played together.

I am a SAHM and I watch our friends 15 month old, plus my cousins 7 week old, and my 4 month old. I only charge $25 a day per kid, so it's not a lot, but it's money I get for being able to raise my baby.

I should make some notes. My lady is not a nanny she is more of a daycare so everything is on her schedule. She picks him up but he is in the car a lot for her family things like dropping her kids off at sporting events. We didn't have any problems with her favoring her kid who was 4 years older. He is most definitely part of the family which I like. I also had an exit plan. He could start preschool at 18 months old if it didn't work out. But we love it. She feeds him our food and naps him on the best schedule for her and us.

One major benefit to us is her ability to watch him early or late. I teach evenings so sometimes he is there until 9:30 at night if my husband is on travel.
