Wondering if any SAHP do anything to make some extra cash on the side. Looking for some ideas.
I know watching children is a popular one. But I'm not sure I feel qualified to watch someone else's child. Maybe if I at least learned Child CPR?

I sold some baby gear and clothes that were in excellent condition during my maternity leave.

I'm a wedding coordinator at my church one Saturday a month, and DH and I give a talk at pre-Cana once a month. Together, those bring in about $250 per month (depending on how many weddings I have).

Can you barter for services?
I feel like it's hard to find side jobs, not sure if you'd be up for a paper route, or cutting someone's lawn? Or what about doing some landscaping redesign?
If you lived closer, I'd totally pay you to do some redesign on my house, to do some plans, but I know you're not residential!

I just got a job as a sub in the nursery at our gym. I pick what shifts I want to work and get our membership for free. The pay is low but I am mostly excited about having co-workers again! Momma needs some new friends!
I think as a parent that makes you qualified. You are never alone with them and the most important quality is being friendly and loving to the families and their kiddos. Kids aren't allowed to be there longer than 2 hours so it is mostly just play time!

my mom watched a toddler in our home (I think you are totally qualified for this. any friends that need some extra childcare?) and cleaned the church one a week. i don't know how much it paid, but I remember playing in the sunday school room while she vacuumed and dusted the church.

I think you're qualified to take care of children - you take care of yours!
Cleaning services? Yard maintenance? Not very helpful, sorry.
Things around the house: collect/return recycling {if you're state does this}, sell unneeded items on Craiglist, if you currently outsource services start doing them yourself {won't make $, but can save you $}.

I totally think you are qualified to watch someone's child- your child is fine right?!? We have a stay at home mom who is our "daycare"- it is such a great situation. She gets to stay home with her kids- and my child gets to be at someone's house playing and having fun. (Plus she is family so she totally loves him) But it was a HUGE savings for us to go this route instead of a daycare center. Give it some thought? Even its only 1 or 2 days a week!

Sell items on Ebay?
Can you tutor anyone in math or English? Good tutors are in high demand in some places.
Clean someone's house?
If you have a specific skill or knowledge, how about teaching a class for the community? Maybe check out your local community college? (e.g. teach a class on how to use social media)

@locavore_mama: i used to be a dog walker! cat sitting is even easier. great way to make extra money and it's fun!

@derevival: @locavore_mama: an old co-worker had a "hobby" of buying super discounted nike items at outlets, then selling them for a mark-up on ebay

I do data entry and market research for a small local start-up. I work after the baby goes to bed on my own time.
ETA: I don't SAH, but I went part time at my regular job.

I didn't do a good job taking advantage of this, but there is a SP (Standardized Patient) program at the local nursing school. There are some where they need to practice on small children (nothing invasive - just heatbeat, ears, etc.) so if you bring your kid you both get paid. If they just need an adult, just the adult gets paid.

I babysit the little ones I used to nanny FT (does that make sense?). I only do one day a week right now.
I also do the Discovery Toys. Those combined don't exactly equate to a ton of money, but as much as a 20-30 hour min wage job for sure.

I would think dog walking or cat sitting would be a good option. We pay $20 a visit for our dogs to get walked.

I do online surveys, swagbucks, microworkers, mystery shopping online. I also run a blog that has ads/affiliate links that generate money. In the past I have done ebay arbitrage, nannying, and freelance writing.

OH and promotional work - sampling, sales, surveys in person. Usually pays $15-30 an hour and is at night/weekends (and fun).

@locavore_mama: We have a similar situation to @cheert16:
A local SAHM watches my toddler while I work 1 or 2 days / week. We pay her well (but a huge savings over daycare considering that I only need part time) and she just takes M along with her to do errands or whatever while her kids are in school and then all of the kids play together in the afternoons. I think she truly loves my child and I know M loves her family. It works out great for all of us!
I'm sure you would be totally qualified for some kind of casual arrangement like this.

I used to work as a nanny and occasionally pick up shifts for them. I've also been selling things in eBay.

@sorrycharlie: I just googled Discovery Toys - I had never heard of it! How do you like it?
@fancyfunction: How did you get started? I have a background in writing / marketing & would love to start freelancing now that I SAH.

I'm not a stay at home mom but i do focus groups and secret shopping for extra cash. Petsitting sounds good too. I always see on CL that they're looking for people who are available during the day.

Ditto on freelancing and selling my stuff on Facebook groups/Craigslist.
I also passed a test awhile back to become a search engine evaluator, but decided it wasn't for me. More here:

@scg00387: How do you find the online surveys to do?
@Mrs. Yoyo: I've looked at something like that, but the info is so limited. If you don't mind me asking, what made you decide it wasn't for you?
blogger / pomelo / 5400 posts
@Boogs: I found the stuff I was tested on easy enough, but once I was cleared, the work that was available (if there was any) was more complex and required even more learning (and the studying you have to do, which is substantial, is unpaid). And I didn't stick around long enough to discover for myself, but a lot of people complain they only get feedback that's negative.

I haven't done it myself, but a friend of mine used to translate technical docs (from Korean to English) during her downtime. Wall me if you're interested and I can ask her about it.

@Mrs. Yoyo: Ah interesting. I know of someone who does the Google version of that, but they didn't share very much about it. Definitely not fun to do stuff unpaid.

@Boogs: yup, same. you have to sign your life away in confidentiality agreements and pledge not to work in public and such.

Not sure if this helpful in any way but when dh got laid off I suggested he work at our local coop grocery store. Employees get 20% off groceries and lots of free sample items and sell-by dates. It has helped a lot. Maybe consider part-time work where you already need a service/ have an expense.

@daniellemybelle: It's been through a lot of networking - just reaching out to contacts to see if they need writing help. My background is in PR so I do a lot of press release writing, but I also do a lot of editorial jobs. I've had a lot of luck using Craigslist actually as well as a site called Freelance Writing Gigs and then I've gotten new clients through other clients. Good luck!

@Greentea: I actually thought about that. But I'm just not sure at this point in pregnancy if I can being on my feet. And the other thing I have to consider is if it'll be worth losing unemployment and probably public Healthcare if I qualify for it. My suggested looking for maybe a office position at a supermarket. Haha

@Boogs: Pinecone Research is my favorite; there are lots of legitimate companies. Moneysavingmom.com has some good recommendations.
This site has lots and lots and lots of valuable information - http://realwaystoearnmoneyonline.com/

@daniellemybelle: I also like a site called FlexJobs. There's a fee but it's legit. And I landed my biggest client through JournalismJobs.

I do photography as well as being a sahm. I suppose you could look at your hobbies or things you love to do and figure out a way to capitalize on that.
