How did you pass the time? We aren't supposed to go to the hospital until 9:30 tonight and I swear the clock hasn't moved in five minutes. Help!!

The morning before my scheduled section, I had my bloody show & starting having painful, timetable contractions. My OB ordered me to l&d, where I learned they were so booked up they couldn't schedule my non-emergency section until after 5pm. My contractions spaced, so they sent me home since I was already scheduled for 10 the next day.
So, I passed the time in L&D and later, scarfing down my favorite food since I knew I'd be on a food restriction at midnight.

We watched tv that we had downloaded onto our laptop - it was season 5 of the Sopranos, I believe. I was in for an emerg c-section because baby was breech and my water broke 3 days before the scheduled c-section. We got to l and d at 3 pm and we didn't get into surgery until midnight. So it was many, many hours of tv. And boy did it go by slowly! Plus I was freaking out a bit over the idea of surgery being so soon. Anyway, I think my answer is do what you can, but it sure will still be slow and weird!

We went out to lunch for our last meal as a couple (although DS didn't make an appearance for another 3 days- so we were premature!) I would take the time to get things organized and maybe head to the movies or something to pass the time. I did have a lot of anxiety that last day and cried a couple times- looking back we should of done something fun to pass the time!

I was induced in the morning, but since my induction was kind of "spur of the moment" we passed the time the previous days getting the nursery together since we put it off the whole pregnancy. Oops!

Ugh, I have no idea, but I can't imagine having to wait like that! I'd be going crazy, waiting!

Try to sleep if you can. I was so excited I couldn't sleep, and when my induced labor lasted over 36 hours, I was really suffering. It can be hard to pass the time, though.
With Lorelei it was a transfer, so once we made it to the hospital, things moved really fast.

That day was the longest day of my life! We were scheduled to check into the hospital at 9:30pm, so I had the ENTIRE day to sit and wait around! Hubs had gotten me a new camera for Christmas (D was a January baby), so I spent the day playing with that, eating, and double-triple-quadruple-checking our hospital bags. I don't know why they schedule them for the nighttime! It's mean! Ha ha. Good luck!!!!

We had to be at the hospital at 5pm, but I went and got a mani/pedi (which was glorious) then went out to eat with DH and did some last minute shopping for things to take to the hospital (snacks, magazines, etc), took my last bump shot. I would just soak in every moment until you go to the hospital, obviously you are excited (and rightfully so) but I would just savor the baby free moments for today.

@cheert16: Going to the movies is an excellent idea!! Wish we would have thought of that!

They told us we *might* get a call that day but no indication of when. So we went to Starbucks, took a walk around the neighborhood, I HBed a lot, just tried to stay busy. When I think of how much free time I had before the induction it's crazy!
