Are they worth the price tag? What makes them great?
I am willing to spend the price if they will be a good shoe for my daughter who is learning how to walk. The only shoes we have are very rigid and structured and don't really work for her. I am looking at these:

I've heard WONDERFUL things about them. We plan to either get C those or a pair of Stride Rite when she learns to walk.
In the end, it's best to keep them in soft shoes like Robeez until they are more confident walkers and then move them into first walkers. From what I understand, that first pair is really the one you want to spend the money on because they need to support their feet in the correct way to encourage proper development.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: Yes yes yes 100 times yes.
If you look at the bottom sole of these you can see two rubber circles. That provides some padding/coushin but the rest of the sole is just a thick leather (thicker than pedipeds).
However, you can usually find SKR shoes on sale for around $25 if you aren't super picky about the design.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I thought they were totally worth it, and we also loved pediped for this stage. However, if you ask my pediatrician, she would have said it did not matter. Main thing for us was comfort! Those 2 brands are softer than pretty much anything else out there, while still providing good support.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: ps we never tried See Kai Run for Wagon Jr. Our favorite while he was learning to walk was Pedipeds. But our friends who were Pediped fans also loved See Kai Run, especially for kids with wide feet. Which mine have! I snagged a pair from Myhabit for LMW for when she learns to walk.

I got Cobi a pair on my habit for $20 and we love them. They are soft, leather. Easy to put on/take off but they stay on really well.

i'll add that while we splurged on nice brands like SKR, Pediped, stride rite for when they were learning to walk, now as a pre-schooler DD wears all kinds of brands, and her favorites are the Target brand 
Not that those are even that cheap, 14.99 a pop for a little girl's shoe wardrobe adds up!

We bought B 3 pairs of See Kai Run shoes. I like them, they actually stay on his feet. The other brand I think that is good is Pediped.

Right now, I like SKR better because they have a 6 - 9 month shoe where as pediped only has 6 - 12 month which is too big for LO.

I bought W 9-12 months (since that is how old she is) but now I am thinking that's going to be huge? I read that's equivelent to a size 4 and she is wearing a 2 right now!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: B is wearing size 6 - 9 months and he's a little peanut. The 6 - 12 pediped are too big for him. B just turned 9 months and just started wears 6 - 12 month clothes.

Okay, we LOVE our Smaller See Kai Run shoes. My daughter never kicks them off, and they are flexible without being too slippery because of the two rubber circles on the bottom. For me, that's what sets them apart from PediPeds. She absolutely hated the elastic on the Robeez, and would always kick them off, probably because her feet are quite narrow. My daughter is still figuring out the walking thing, so she's mostly barefoot when she's indoors, but I love these shoes for keeping her feet warm when we're out and about and at the park and such.
I'll be willing to compromise on the soft structure and quality (and therefore cost) of the shoe once she gets the hang of walking, but it's super important to me to have a great shoe as she develops that skill. Also, because they are expensive, she only has one pair of shoes in her size at a time, and I've been fine with that.

Love love love them. They are my favourite first shoes. I try to get them on sale as they are pricey but the style is great and they have a good flexible shoe. I buy cheap clothes for my girls but I won't buy them crappy shoes, I think it's very important that they learn to walk in a well made, flexible shoe.

I Iove SKR shoes! My LO has several pairs...she is about to grow out of the 0-6 month size at 14 months.
