Can I just hear stories about super rough baby boys who grew into sweet, kind boys/men that love their mommies?

My husband was high energy, into everything, rough and tumble, tore things apart (broke) to figure things out, big for his age, constantly hurting people because he didn't get how big he was I guess?
I think sports was a great outlet for him. Our son is very similar to what I have heard about my husband.
Our son is nearly 29 months old, 40" tall and 35 ish lbs. He has actually hurt me jumping on me, wrestling, hitting when he gets worked up. He doesn't do it on purpose because when I yell because it hurt he says "aww boo boo" and kisses me on my boo boo. He has no fear, climbs and jumps and general daredevil things that nearly give me a heart attack.
I think a lot of it is age too. I think he will grow up just fine, it's just making it to the grownup portion of his life without major injury

@DesertDreams88: I see a lot of the comments say to remove dairy/sweets or add magnesium to his diet. Did you do any of those things, and did they help? My son doesn’t eat much of either, but a lot of fruit and carbs.

Following! My 21 m DS is high energy, go-go-go, and is really into hitting us
He is very sweet and cuddly too but I worrry about him going back to daycare next week. He already broke his leg in June because he’s crazy and loves to climb and jump off things. @Sams Mom: mine is similar. He also loves to hug and kiss us when he has ‘hurt’ us.

@Sweetpea87: We added magnesium because I take it and it helps me a ton with anxiety which I feel is related (feeling worked up / tense). We don't do a lot of straight-up sweets but he loves fruit and fruit/granola bars. I read the ingredients on all of our typical snacks and decided not to buy the 2 biggest offenders anymore, and we didn't have anything with food coloring except nutrigrain bars so I cut those out too.
I feel like he has gotten better to a degree, we really been working on it and the more physical activity and less screen time, the better he is.
Another thing I realized is he hits or bites when he doesn't have enough lead-up time for a transition. So we do countdowns a lot and talk about "Mommy's turn now" (with baby) and things going "night night" (with toys) etc.

DS was, essentially, kicked out of two daycares for aggression at 2-2.5. (He wasn't exactly kicked out but we were made aware that it wasn't working out.) He was throwing chairs, hitting others unprovoked, etc. It was AWFUL. Now at 3 years and 2 months, I can count on one hand the number of times he has hit (I can't speak for daycare but they said they have no issues with him) us in the past few months. Once he got to three, it was like a switch flipped...he has developed so much more empathy and self-control. We deal more with sassiness and non-compliance now which I vastly prefer. I think it's a tough age, especially for boys but it seems to be a very normal stage.

@Sweetpea87: solidarity. My son upon meeting new kids slaps them and when playing with unfamiliar kids, hits and yells NO. It's humiliating. He's not really bull-in-a-China-shop but it got so bad at gymnastics when he was a little over 2 I started dreading it.
Everyone tells me it's normal and a phase ... Hopefully?

It sounds like he's dysregulated. He may need more sensory input than other kids. I'd research sensory processing and sensory seeking in particular. If he's getting more sensory input elsewhere, he may stop needing to be so rough with people. It has made a world of difference with our very active, rough girl.
