I have been making most of my son's baby food while I am home with him this summer. (Purees). Next week school starts so I am back to work. He is going to be going to an in-home daycare.
I was thinking about just using empty baby food jars to send food to daycare each morning but then I will have to be sure to thaw the cubes the night before. What do you guys send homemade baby food to daycare in?

When LO was on purees it was only once daily so I never sent it to daycare. But back hten I would sometimes send applesauce, etc and I used a glass jar from a local dairy.
Now I send her food in Tupperware in little silicone muffin cups.

We bought little glass dishes from amazon that would fit a few cubes.

i bought bowls with lids. I think the Nuk brand. The lids are super tight and I've never had a leak. I put the ice cubes of frozen food in the fridge the night before and then leave them out at daycare. Haven't had a problem yet.

We used the Nuk ones, too. Our daycare does not allow glass containers in case one falls and breaks.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am really trying not to spend money right now - not working in summer also means not getting paid. But your suggestions are pretty inexpensive and seem like they would work well.
I use ice cube trays to freeze my baby food so I definitely should get something big enough to stick a whole cube in - so I don't have to thaw them and then put them in the container.
Any other suggestions definitely welcome!

@Andrea - good point about the glass. I will have to ask our daycare provider about that. If she is ok with it, I think glass would be my first choice. Last longer and better for heating.

I make all of LO's purées and freeze in ice cube trays in batches. Every evening (or early morning if I don't get to it!) I'll put a couple cubes in small glass Pyrex containers for our in-home daycare. I send two containers, one for breakfast and one for lunch. We got our Pyrex containers at our grocery store but they also have them at target or Walmart for a couple bucks apiece. We use the 8-oz containers since that gives me enough room to mash stuff up and the containers really don't take up much room at all.

I made both DD and DS' baby foods. DD was at a daycare center which didn't allow glass so I just used small BPA free plastic containers (I think they were rubbermaid). For DS I am able to use glass because he is at an in-home sitter and so I use 1/8 ball canning jars. I pack the food the night before so it can start to thaw in the fridge overnight.

We send LO to an in-home daycare and I just give them a ziploc bag with the little frozen cubes. She will heat them up to thaw for a few seconds in the microwave when it is meal time in one of her own mugs (or I could send some microwave safe tupperware to 'live' at daycare. Could you ask if this is an option for your LO?
It is SO easy on me to be able to send a few bags of different kinds of frozen cubes. Then she just writes down in LO's notebook how many of what kind she had that day and when she is running low.
