Anyone else have a child who is sensitive to certain clothes/shoes? As we come up on summer, I've been trying to get my lo to wear shoes without socks. She hates it. I attempted to put sandals on her one day and she practically clawed her foot off trying to get them off. She's also sensitive to "rough" pants and shirts.
I'm looking for a pair of shoes/sandals for her to wear this summer but I'm not sure where to start. This wasn't a problem last summer... Any suggestions?

Oh yes...where do I begin?
I don't do shirts with appliques for my son, because that weird webbing on the inside of the shirt bugs him. He also asks me to cut off all the tags. so I look for clothes with the tags printed on. I wash everything and also put it in the dryer, that helps soften things (even though I would love to line dry in the summer).
My son also won't wear shoes without socks, he insists on them and you know what, I go with it. It actually works in my favor because the camp he's going to this summer requires closed toe, non slip on shoes!

I am dealing with this with DD - she was fine last year but I took her shoe shopping and she would NOT wear shoes without socks - I imagine she will be in sneakers all summer!

it is a very common issue. olive is like that too.
i've found that most kids with shoe sensitivities like crocs though because they're so wide and comfy.

Yeah, crocs are pretty much on the out list for us as well. I don't see the appeal, really, they're totally not breathable.

@Mamaof2: our daycare doesn't like crocs either so we did natives and olive was fine with them.
how about light up sandals? i got light up sneakers to end the shoe battles we have in the mornings, but olive still loves her wellies the best.

Oh, yes. LO is very particular about which shoes she will wear. They're either "too big" or they "tickle." Neither of which is true. If she had her way she would be wearing a pair of brown shoes that are 2 sizes too small every day.

@looch: now that I think about it, last year she wanted to be in shoes and socks when we were on the beach. I have a feeling this year will be the same. And then she gets pissed when her socks get wet. (eyeroll) lol
@Mamaof2: yeah, we send M to daycare in Keens. I tried to get her to wear them without socks but ... no. Definitely no. Socks and shoes it is!
@Mrs. Bee: We have a couple of pairs that are too big for her right now (hand me downs). I think we may go to the store and see if we can find a pair she likes. Olive is ok wearing sandals or do you struggle to get them on her and she finally gives in?

@mediagirl: she doesn't really like sandals. i just let her watch a short video and dress her and i can get away with it usually because she's occupied!

DS has no problem wearing socks, but now that he's older, I'm putting shoes on him. He's not a fan. He'll grab at them and try to take them off and eat them. He'll tolerate the sandals after awhile. We just started trying shoes and he's like what is this?! Get it off!!!

I was going to suggest crocs as well. My youngest sister and 2 of the kids I nanny for have had issues with certain types of clothing/shoes and love wear crocs. For a while I had a hard time getting the boy I nanny for to wear socks/shoes when the weather turned colder.
I know crocs are kinda ugly and people usually hate them, but the girl I watch has some cute Mary Jane/ballet flat style ones.

I had suuuuch a hard time getting her to try on sandals. It's actually like that with most new shoes I get her. She totally freaks out and screams/cries whenever I try to bring out a new pair. Boots were pretty bad.
I have to admit, I bribed her 
I told her if she put on her pretty sandals, we would go to the children's museum and eat a treat later. It worked

I think there's a company called Soft Clothing that was originally designed for kids with sensory sensitivities. They can be pricey but I see them on Zulily once in a while!
