    @LoveHope: Yup this would be my first ever acupuncture appointment. I hate needles but my last blood draw wasn't so bad because the nurse was so fast. I'm hoping sometime who does acupuncture is pretty good with needles. I pass out if nurses start digging around in my arm too much when doing blood draws.

    @KittySunshine: Acupuncture wasn't painful. There were certain spots in which I experienced sensitivity but once the needle was adjusted I was fine. I felt the most sensitivity on my legs for some reason. I really loved it though! I was paying $80/session so I can't do it as often as I would like.

    This thread has inspired me to look into acupuncture - surprisingly, my insurance has an in-network acupuncturist. I'm thinking about calling on my lunch break to verify they accept my plan. I'll take any help I can get at this point!

    @doxielove: I would also check to see if they specialize in fertility as that is very important so that they know what to do differently, depending upon your cycle day. I go and love it!

    @NorthStar: Thanks for the tip! Just scheduled an appointment for Monday. I'm excited to try something new. I'm hoping it helps with my anxiety, too!

    @KittySunshine: Please update how it goes - I'm also terrified of needles!

    @NorthStar: My insurance covers acupuncture if it's non fertility related. Isn't that just awful? Ughhh!

    @LoveHope: lol - are you serious?! That's so ridiculous! I don't know if I can, but I've been using my health savings account to pay for it. I still go weekly (at least most of the time), but my HSA is about drained out, so not sure how long I'll continue.

  8. LoveHope

    kiwi / 689 posts

    @NorthStar: I should look into an HSA.

    Cycle Day: tomorrow will be CD 1 (finishing 2 weeks of BCP)
    TTC Cycle #: oh gracious....TTC since March 2014.
    Ovulation and POAS dates: IUI will be around 9/12 so I'll have a beta around the 30th? TBD
    Baby #: 1
    Your plan this month: try to stay positive...this will be IUI #6 for us...last one before moving on to IVF.
    Looking forward to the support and giving it right back!

    @Mrs. Pinky: Welcome! I'm on the waiting end of my 3rd IUI, but will be moving onto IVF if this one doesn't work. Good luck!

    @doxielove: Eek another needle fearing person! I feel your pain. I will let you know! Good luck with your appointment. I'm jealous of your insurance plan!

    @LoveHope: My plan will cover acupuncture only after a whole bunch of other steps have been taken and they don't cover anything related to fertility treatments so I'm right there with you. I'm curious how many sessions I'll be able to do and the costs.

    @Mrs. Pinky: Welcome!! Everyone is very supportive here

    @KittySunshine: its funny since I actually work in healthcar ebut I hate hate being the patient. Prefer to be on the other side of things. I've done acupuncture on and off. But I think it may be time to do some blood work soon. I have a new PCP that I new to talk to about this.

    @LoveHope: some acupucturist are willing to see you for other issues but also do fertility points but not charge for them. It might be worht looking into. I used to see an acupuncturist who would do this. Also look in "community" acupuncture centers, where they accept a sliding scale fee (usually $20-$50) and they don't bill insurance at all.

    @Mrs. Pinky: welcome! fx this iui works for you!

    I used to really hate needles, but I get poked and prodded so often I don't even care anymore!

    @doxielove: I love acupuncture!

    @LoveHope: can you go for other issues and mention infertility as well?

    @Mrs. Pinky: good luck in your IUI! Are you trying anything different this cycle?

    @lady grey: thanks for the tip on community centers, I'm going to have to look into that!

    @KittySunshine: After further research, I'm hoping that my visit will be covered. :-\ I called my insurance to verify that acupuncture is a covered service, and they said no. But - the acupuncturist I am seeing, who exclusively does acupuncture, is listed as a covered provider under my plan. Wtf. Guess I'll just wait to see what happens when they submit the claim!

    I'm so proud of myself for being proactive. I emailed my doctor's office yesterday afternoon to see if I could schedule a progesterone test this cycle, and my doctor's nurse responded that I'd "have to wait until my 9/25 appointment to discuss with my doctor." What??? IF is part of my medical record, why should I have to wait for bloodwork. It's coming up on 3 years. So, I canceled my appointment with that whack-a-doo and made an appointment for 9/16 with a fertility specialist in my area who has great reviews. I'm pretty pumped!!

    @doxielove: I'm in the same boat where the provider is in network but fertility isn't covered. I have asked for vertigo treatments as well but honestly my issue is more with fertility!! I do occasionally have issues with vertigo so I guess it's fair to ask. I'm with you, guess I'll have to see when they submit my claim. Good job on being proactive and getting the answers you want!!!

    My doctor wants to run more blood work to rule out PCOS.

    A good acupuncturist will want to know all the problems you are experiencing, and work to restore balance in your entire body. If you have anything else going on, they might be able to use that as the main diagnosis.

    CD8 here. Taking femara and waiting for my next ultrasound. I'm really hoping for an IUI in one week (Friday) since we are both off that day.

    @LoveHope: thanks for the link!
    Isn't it funny that so many of us are POAS around the same time? It's kinda like when girls live together and their cycles become the same.

    Just checking in! Had to take a few days break because I found out that four of my best friends are all pregnant! Needed to mentally not be thinking baby every second! Hopeful that a few of us can graduate this month of the thread!

    @LibbyLou: That is rough. Some of my gf's announced last month they were preggo too. It's hard. You will get your happy ending too- we all will.

    @Crystal: thanks! The first 4 IUI's were with clomid and injectable with a trigger. Last IUI and this next one will be injectables only. I had a chemical the first IUI...it's been an interesting experience. My insurance will not cover IVF unless we've completed 6 IUI ( don't get me wrong, I'm thankful we have fertile coverage) but it's taken us a year to do 6 because of travel and cancelled cycle, etc etc.
    Lots and lots of good luck to you too!

    @Mrs. Pinky: wow, you're lucky to have such great coverage! I'm jealous. fx for you this cycle!

    @doxielove: that's super annoying! I wonder if a referral would help?

    @LoveHope: thanks for the article!

    @AmeliaBedilia: fx the timing works out!

    @Crystal: I switched practices completely now by scheduling this new appointment. Just from my interaction with the office support staff, I'm loving this new practice so much more! I loved my old doc as a gyn, but we just weren't on the same page when it comes to IF stuff. How are you holding up?

    @Mrs. Pinky: Jealous of your coverage! I have 0 IF treatment coverage. I'm lucky enough that the testing is covered! Hoping IUI #6 does the trick for you!

    @AmeliaBedilia: That makes a lot of sense (about a acupuncturist wanting to restore balance in the entire body). Thanks for the insight!

    @doxielove: I had the same exact situation with my OBGYN! He's awesome, unless you don't fit in the norm. He didn't even run a hormone panel on me, just immediately went to IF and clomid (and billing my ins as IF, which means terrible coverage). I just switched to a brand new one, that I have my follow up d&c appt with on Tuesday.

    How are all the ladies testing this week doing? I'm 7dpo and have had light spotting and cramps the last 2 days. I always spot but this is early for me. I'm really hoping my short LP isn't even shorter this month. I'm going to try to hold off testing until Tuesday at 10dpo. I've always got my positives On that day but have never spotted before 8dpo before. Good luck to all. Hope everyone makes it through the weekend ok!

    @delight: do you usually cramp here? I'm having cramps wake me right now (7dpo too!) I'm not sure what to think.

    @LibbyLou: no I don't cramp usually in TWW except right before AF. Except when I have had BFP!! Good luck to you! It'd be fun to have the same due date!! We have DD's 2nd birthday party Sunday and are going to Toronto for Monday and Tuesday so that'll keep my mind occupied until I test!
