I wish I knew. My eight week old wants to be held and worn like velcro, and we co bed, to boot. If I absolutely have to get something done, I will often just put her in the swing, and sing to her, while I clean the kitchen counters/wash bottles/fix myself lunch. Seems to work for a few minutes, as long as she hears my voice.

Has it already been a month???? Wow!

I used to just have to talk to my baby when I would put her down and walk away. That way she could hear me and know that I was near. It took a little time for her to get used to it, but she did.

But, at this age, babies are starting to see more and the world can be a bit scary. So, you are their "happy place" until they get a little more comfortable in their surroundings. Hang in there - it does get better!

Honestly, I couldn't put my DD down at all the first 3 months, and rarely after that until she was closer to 6 months. They go from an environment of being held all the time in the womb, and the first 3 months are kind of a 4th trimester as they adjust to life in the world. I just baby wore a lot and tried to remind myself she was just trying to adjust.

Mine has just started this at 8 weeks!! (to be fair, she was grumpy in my arms as well at 4 weeks!!). Im dealing with it (badly!) by not showering, barely eating, doing household chores one handed while holding her and reminding myself that this phase will pass like all the other phases that went before. Its tough!
