Do you always wear heels at the office? My friend just got a new job and she needs to buy new work attire!

@autumnlove: I used to (except on Fridays when I would dress down), but then I switched to wedges because they were more comfortable. And while pregnant I always just wear nice flats.

I never wear heels in the office! I have 2 pairs of flats that I bought from Target that I always wear. I go for comfort, not fashion.

I wear heels a lot and sometimes nice flats. I find a lot of great heels at TJ Maxx or Marshalls! Nude pumps or black are my go-to's.

No way. I'm 5'11" I do have two pairs of heeled sandals/boots

@autumnlove: I wear a combination of heals (mostly Nine West pumps) and flats. If I am seeing a client always heals but if it is just an office day flats are fine. Does the company have a written dress code?

I'm not corporate, but I work for a non-profit with a lot of corporate board members. On days where the board is going to be in the building for meetings or when high-level donors are visiting, I generally wear heels or nice wedges with my business attire. Other days, I wear nice flats.

@mrswin: All she said was suits are required and there is no casual Friday!

Nevvveeeerrr! But then again my office is pretty casual.
If I felt like it (when I was younger), I just have a few pairs of shoes under my desk so I can change in and out of heels.

@autumnlove: No way, I wear flats every day! Either nice ballet flats without socks or loafers/oxfords with socks. We're business casual, but I'll wear the same with suits. I figure it's what guys wear with their suits, so why not?

@autumnlove: My suggestion would be to start out with a couple conservative pairs of pumps and once she gets a feel for what others in the office wear she can decide if flats or wedges are appropriate
Also what industry is she in? I'm in Consulting/Finance which is one of the more "formal" corporate environment still

Most of the time, but not always. My absolute fave fave pair of heels are these nude pumps: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/251607394732?lpid=82. SOOOO comfy.

I wear black Cole Haan Air Milly wedges - they are round, closed-toe wedge heels that are business appropriate and look great with my suits, but they are wedges with Nike Air technology so they are very, very comfortable to walk around in.

I switch between flats, heel booties and Danskos. My coworker almost always wears wedges and they're super cute.

I wear heels almost every day. On fridays, I usually wear wedge heels and in winter I wear boots a lot with varying heel height. Once in a blue moon I wear ballet flats.
My main staples are black and nude closed-toe pumps with about a 3" heel. I also have black slingbacks, and dark purple peep-toe pumps to switch it up a little.

i usually wear flats to walk to work, but change into heels there. almost all of the women in my office wear heels. i think maybe she should go to work and see what the other women are wearing and then she can decide.

I work in a very professional setting &I usually wear nice flats as heels hurts my knees. I do wear the occasional wedged closed toe shoe or boot.

I wear flats if I'm wearing pants (or kitten heels). If i'm wearing a dress or skirt suit, I wear heels or wedges depending on which one. A lot of times I wear comfortable shoes to and from work while Im commuting but it's pretty traditional where I work (finance/banking industry)

I never wear heels. I wear nice flats or sandals.
I didn't even wear heels to my own wedding. I hate them that much.

I don't wear traditional heels any more, I prefer wedges, but they have to be very sleek, all leather, closed toe. No espadrilles or anything with contrasting materials.
With suits, it's really difficult to be creative with your footwear, especially if it's a traditional environment. Some good brands are Geox, Cole Haan, Clarks, Aquatalia by Marvin K, Joan and David, Donald J. Pliner, Stuart Weitzman, etc.

For "real" heels, I swear by Anne Klein slingbacks. The slingback doesn't chafe the back of your heel, they are usually a 2.5" heel, so totally manageable, and as comfy as a pointy-toe stiletto is gonna get.
