I say no! But apparently this is something a local-ish school district has implemented for its high schools this year. The girls are supposed to submit photos of their dresses. One mom said she paid $500(!!) for her daughter's dress and the school rejected it because there was a small gap between the top and bottom of the two pieces of the dress. The dress was only shown on the news report on a mannequin but it looked to be an inch or so. Maybe less.

I think school dress codes are often REALLY sexist and prom is not even an event educational in nature, while it is sponsored by the school. I'd be so pissed if I was a mom who was OK with her daughter's dress and the school said no.
