I am trying to decide whether or not to add a video monitor to the list of "baby stuff I swore I wouldn't buy but then caved in and bought anyway." Nothing against video monitors but that they're more expensive than audio monitors and I find the images a little creepy since they make me think of "Paranormal Activity."

We've been fine with an audio monitor for 8+ months, but now that the baby has figured out how to stand up in her sleep sack, I feel bad when she's been fussing and it turns out that she's been standing up and is too tired to remember how to lie down again and has worked herself into a big fuss.

Did anyone belatedly buy a video monitor? Are you glad you did? Does the desire to see what your baby is up to just keep getting stronger (thinking of Mrs. Wagon's crib-vaulting post today...)? Or does the helpfulness of a video monitor diminish after a certain age?
