I started my job in April (I have been here now about 4 ½ months) and I really liked it at first. I fit in the everyone, the job was challenging, and I love the location (close to home). Well there has been a shift lately and basically the Manager quit, and everyone “moved up” to the next position. Well I wasn’t even considered for “moving up” to my next position. Basically I’m in school for my Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, and the position “requires” a degree. I’m just 16 classes away from my degree and my employer knows this. I have excelled so far in everything I have been taught. I actually was helping cross train someone in another department. It’s just annoying to me that I wasn’t even considered, and they go and hire someone for the position.
My dilemma though is I feel like I am “letting them down” if I start looking. I have only been here for a couple months, and I have basically just settled in. Also how will future employers feel about that on my resume? I was at me previous job for 2 years before I came here. I want to find a company where I can stay at for a while and grow! But I just feel inside guilty, 100% guilty for even considering looking around. My husband and my best friend are encouraging me to look though. What would you do?
