The more they eat, the more their stomach expands, and it puts pressure on their intestines, causing them to reflexively poop or pee. Adults have it too, but to a much lesser degree.

Echoing the other ladies that my daughter also had dirty diapers ALL THE TIME when she was that little. I feel like I really never changed a diaper that was just wet until she was like 3 months old.

We combination fed. We didn't start supplementing with formula until she was 7 months so my experience was a little different but maybe it can help.

We also used Similac Sensitive. Our daughter seemed to do great on it. Here's a money-saving tip - we found the generic versions from Walmart, Target, and CVS were exactly the same as the name brand.

I highly recommend talking to a lactation consultant about your nursing, supplementing, and pumping schedule. They have this reputation as being "breast is best" zealots who are going to scold you for using formula, but I didn't find that at all. I talked to one at our local hospital who was very helpful in talking to me about supplementing.

This is super long already but I just wanted to add that with a 2 week old, it might be a good idea to lay off the pumping to build up a stash for work for now. It sounds like you're pretty maxed out just with nursing and figuring out your baby. You don't really need a huge stash for work, because you'll be constantly pumping at work and giving your baby that pumped milk. I think before I went back to work I had a stash of just two or three days' worth of milk. I don't think I started pumping until my daughter was a month or 6 weeks old, and I would mostly just do it if she slept extra long or if she fell asleep after only nursing on one side.

Sounds super normal. Switching to formula is up to you.

I struggled with breastfeeding also... I always supplemented from when he was born basically with formula. Finally at 3 months I bite the bullet and just gave him formula only when I went back to work. He seems to be fine.

It was a tough choice because it might sound weird or perfectly normally but I felt like I failed him by giving up. I had a lot of support though... maybe too much support because both my mother and MIL formula fed since that what mothers did back then and they said all of us turned out fine (my siblings and I and DH and his siblings).

Are you worried about anything in particular about switching?
