We just got LO a pair of natives, and I was planning on having those and a pair of sneakers. But the natives are still a little big and I don't know how comfortable they are for him (he keeps asking to take them off). And I think sneakers will be too hot for him! So I need ideas. Pics/links appreciated!

Holy long link Batman! We got these at Stride Rite. LO loves them and they are breathable and can get wet. He is in between sizes in Crocs right now and I like these better because I think they're easier for him to run in.

2nd year in a row for us. I love that they can get wet, have a good thick sole, my LO could put them on at 18 months and he thinks they are comfortable (he chooses to wear them a lot anyway). These are great for dress and casual! DS loves them.

As far as play shoes go, E pretty much lived in Crocs last year. Especially great for water play (of which there was a lot!)

My son hates natives too. He doesn't have very wide feet, but I think they are just too tights on his feet and he isn't used to the sensation. We got a knock off pair from old navy and he wears them without complaint, but he can't run full speed in them. I think I may get some Keens even though I don't love the way they look.

We have 2 pairs of Native Millers (in black and blue/green) and 2 pairs of the Gap knockoff versions. He really likes the Gap knockoff ones and his blue/green pair of Natives. I did buy a pair of the Old Navy knockoffs but ended up returning them because we have so many summer shoes!
I personally really dislike the look of boys sandals. I wish my LO would tolerate wearing flip flops!

Keen Newport sandals. So far he has only worn them a few times because it hasn't been warm enough. But I LOVE that I can rinse the sand out. I'm hoping they will be his only summer shoes.

@lamariniere: I got the same for DS in two different colors. I'm in the south and it's warm, so he's been wearing them about two months. They've been great, though they do make his feet stinky. But they are machine washable and so far have come out looking clean. He wears them every day.

@Sparkler: we have the opposite problem, they seem to be too big on him. He can run in them, but I don't like how they seem to be on the verge of slipping off. Not sure if I will keep them for him to grow into or return them. I have heard great things about keens, but also don't love the look.
@Sammyfab: do you mean like the sporty sandals? I also really don't like those! I wish LO liked the natives more...I think we have the jeffersons, are the fits different for teh different styles?
@lamariniere: I think something like that makes the most sense...I just need to find one we can try on in person that I like the style of!

@hilsy85: i think they are looser than natives. they are thinner than crocs but not as fitted as natives.
I get Olive natives because i think they are more stylish for little girls.

@hilsy85: Ha, then who knows. I think toddlers have a tough time with different textures in their feet in general. My son just really likes sneakers so I just buy low socks and avoid the fight if he protests!

He's got the Stride Rite SRT Dillan. He's worn them for about 2 weeks now, but I'm not sure if he likes them. I think it's just him getting used to wearing shoes with no socks! Once he has them on, he's fine, but he hates putting them on!

@chopsuey: that's what we have, and I feel like when he runs in them, I can see his heel almost slipping out. But they're so cute, I might hang on to them and wait, I'm sure his feet will grow a bit over the summer!

We just started using LO's Keens! They seem to be cool enough for his feet (it was so hot here this weekend)and they're cute too.
