I would definitely want her to visit if I were you. Having a new baby is a huge family event and I would think it would be important to have her be a part of it as soon as possible. I think making her stay home would make her feel left out. When I was born my mom's friend brought my brother to the hospital as soon as my mom was moved to recovery and could have visitors.

DS is 3 years old and DD is due in 3 weeks. We will most definitely have him visit, it's just as big of a change for him as it is for us. He's excited to meet her and I'd feel bad to leave him for so long.

I want my LO to come visit when we have another baby. I'd like her to feel included in the process as much as possible and to feel like it's a special moment for her too.

But we didn't have a no visitors policy... and even let my 6 year old niece in.

If I had #2, I would like DD to come visit. I think it would help to meet her new sibling on neutral ground, rather than at home where she will probably feel more threatened. That is my thinking anyway.

I did! She came with her Gramma for a couple hours to meet her new little sister. So adorable. However, I liked having visitors, I got kinda bored hanging out all day. Newborns are amazing, but they aren't so great as conversationalists.

Honestly, I also missed her a lot. It was the first time we'd spent the night apart since she was born!

I wouldnt want other kids to come to the hospital but I think its important for the older sibling to come and see the baby in the hospital.

It was really important to me that DD be the first person to meet her baby brother (besides me and DH, of course). Having DD meet DS first thing, the morning after he was born, was so wonderful; I'm so glad we got those first few hours just to ourselves and our new family, before the rest of our visitors showed up.

Also, I was really glad DD got to come to the hospital because we ended up being there much longer than I planned on. We thought we were going to be discharged about 12 hours after DS's birth, but DS ended up being jaundiced and we had to stay about 3 days total. DD visited every day we were in the hospital, and I was so glad since I missed her terribly during that time.

I would want my older LO to visit younger LO at the hospital. If you think older LO will be jealous, have a gift waiting for him/her "from the baby" to ease LO #1 into it. My BIL still says that having hubs "give" him the Millennium Falcon when he came home from the hospital convinced him to like his little brother
