I don't think it will make any difference. Your milk will come in if you have your baby nursing every hour or two when the time comes It's kind of interesting though, I leaked when my baby was first born, but by 6w or so I didn't anymore. I have a HUGE box of breast pads in the nursery that I will never use!

@sorrycharlie: I don't like disposable breast pads. I know they're popular, but they have a plastic lining and don't let your breasts "breathe." I had to take antibiotics a couple times early on and ended up with thrush (yeast infection on the boobs that the baby can get in its mouth, it's awful), which the pads made worse. I ended up just using just pieces of flannel cut up into squares that I wash in a garment bag and reuse.

I have an entire box of disposable breast pads left from my first, but that is more because I only leaked at night and just wasn't comfortable sleeping in a bra so I'd just change my shirt when I got up and it was wet; some nights I went through 3-4 shirts.

@Cvbee-they make these things that you can use to catch the milk that leaks, someone posted about them on here but I can't remember who or when (I think they are called milkies). Might be something to look into since you leak when your LO is nursing (most likely during let down).

Today I tried pumping while BFing baby on other boobie and it was way too complicated for me. Maybe those would be nice and simple and useful at the same time.

@sorrycharlie: I am cloth diapering, and didn't buy very many newborn size diapers, so I do laundry pretty much every day. I have 4 pairs of washable breast pads (one pair is an 'overnight') and I run out of pads every day. But I feel like I leak maybe more than most people, and I don't like putting a pad back on if it is partly wet. So if I could do it all again, I'd get double of what I have (so, 6 pairs of day pads and 2 pairs of overnights).

For now I'd say no more than a box, I still have about 3/4 of a box left over. After the first couple weeks you'll want to get out of the house and can buy more later on if you need them.

I only had the tiniest bit of spotting before birth, had to use pads for the first month or so afterwards, and now don't need anything unless I miss a couple pumpings/feedings, which is rare.

I had plenty of colostrum and milk came in about 4 days after birth.

@Mrs. Stroller: I agree! I had to switch to cloth breast pads because they just didn't breathe enough for me & plus the stickiness of the disposables was more annoying than helpful for me. I bought mine though, I used bamboobies organic breast pads.

@SorryCharlie: I bought a few of the Coobie bras one of the other posters recommended. Although the sizes say they only go up to DD - they are pretty stretchy. (I am currently wearing a size 32D Coobie bra even though my regular bras are 32DDs, and I am starting to grow out of those.) Something like that, or a light sports bra or nursing tank or something with support but without irritating straps and hooks would probably do the trick.
