Hi I'm new! Have been TTC since the wedding night which was 18th Feb 2012. Anyway - up to now we've been a bit unsuccesful - well not a bit - totally... anyway - back to the point.... We were discussing ways of "maximising" our chances the other night. I was discussing charting etc which DH found interesting yet bizarre. So we started discussing silly things we'd heard over the years, old wives tales etc.... He proceeded to tell me about these foot rings that they used to attach to a rope which women used to put their feet in after intercourse to make sure every little sperm went the right way. I told him about how my grandmother insisted she only ever got pregnant on a full moon. The conversation got really really silly as the night got on. A whole myriad of things were mentioned. What silly old wives tales did you hear, and did they actually work for you?

Ive never heard any of those, how funny! I always loved the engagement chicken thing, aren't there pregnancy cookies?

I would totally prop my legs up after sex during my fertile window! It worked! Even though it took us awhile to get this sticky baby I was able to get pregnant each month that we tried. I also did less silly things (charting, etc) and I definitely attribute our “success” more to that.

@artbee: There totally are pregnancy cookies apparently!! I was googling labor cookies for a friend yesterday and those came up too!

@Running Elley: @highwire: Out of curiosity (because I want to make sure I'm doing this right, haha) - how did you ladies prop your hips/legs? Do you just put a pillow under your butt or something?

@Adira: One side of our bed is against the wall so I’d put a pillow under my butt and prop my hips up against the wall!

@Adira: I folded a pillow in half and put it directly under my butt or even under the highest part of my thighs so that my lower abdomen was pointing diagonally downward towards my head. I hope that makes sense!

@Running Elley: I did too, and it worked for me as well. I would leave my legs up for about 15 minutes to just help the swimmers out

@Adira: I would put a pillow under my hips and rest my feet on the wall at a 90 degree angle.

@jessiejo17: Yepp, about 15 minutes for me too! I watched "The Great Sperm Race" and it TERRIFIED me with all of the obstacles that the swimmers have to overcome to get to that egg so I figured they needed all the help they could get

Yup the feet in the air with a pillow under my butt was the only crazy thing I did. I would stay there for about 20 minutes and I would alternate between having my legs straight up, and doing bicycles. I don't know if it helped but both times I got preggo on the first try.

I'm also lay with a pillow under my butt for at least 30 minutes each time.

I totally do the pillow under the butt and legs sticking up in the air thing.

I never did the legs elevated thing and I still got pregnant! I thought about it, but we usually have sex in the morning, so I never had time.
