I feel like our apartment is lacking some personal touches that'd make it feel more like home. For example, we don't have any plants. So I'm going to buy some tomorrow for the kitchen! What else gives your place a warm, lived-in look? Candles, perhaps? Art?

Comfortable pillows and blankets on the couches made a difference in our house, especially on the leather couches.

Pillows, photos, for the kitchen I like picking out fun tea towels to hang at the stove. I'd suggest going to pier one or Christmas tree shops and picking out some knick knacks that you like, seasonal or not. Things like bookends, a decorative bowl for your coffee table, inexpensive wall art. If your apt has all beige/neutral walls like mine did, adding color to your home really helps!

Things hanging on the walls like framed photos and artwork/decor gives a place a lived-in we're-staying-for-awhile look IMO.

A rug, cushions and throws are nice additions too.
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I love throw pillows but i have to admit, unless it's a deep couch i find 6 fat throw pillows lined up to be super uncomfortable.

I love throws and plants. Wall art helps to bring color to a boring room too. Does children's toys on the floor count?

I wish I could have those, but I don't don't get pictures printed, and then I never get frames.... I'm bad at it.
I kill plants too 
I always like seeing decorations- it really gives you a sense of what the people living there like and enjoy seeing.

Candles, artwork, curtains, area rugs, and pillows always add those little touches to me! I don't have plants indoors but I usually buy fresh flowers weekly to add a nice touch.
