My ladybirs are smelly & I'm a little freaked out. It doesn't hurt, there's no weird discharge & my bleeding has mostly dissipated. I stil spot pink occasionally, but otherwise most things have returned to relatively normal down there... but it's definitely got a weird odor these days. I don't even know how to describe it. I'm 3 weeks post vaginal birth. Is this normal? Should I be worried?

I would call your care provider and let them know, I know sometimes a smell can be an indication of infection that might be an easy fix but quickly get bad if left untreated.

@Arden: Yikes. I was hoping since everything else seemed normal that it was normal. I was afraid someone would mention infection. Boooo.

@photojane: If that is what it is, I wouldn't worry too much. It will probably just mean some antibiotics and all will be well again.

I got a uterine infection at about that same time pp. It was horrible! I was having a lot more issues, still bleeding, uterus not contracted back down to size, etc, but as soon as I mentioned *smell* they told me to come right in and gave me antibiotics. I would definitely talk to your doctor because if you can you really want to stop it before it gets bad!! I hope for your sake there is no infection because they really suck!

Yeah same with me... I actually noticed it in my third trimester at first but ever since its never quite been the same... Gross I know

Call your doc ASAP. I had a uterine infection and was on a medley of antibiotics. It took me awhile to figure it out because I had a cold and could not smell anything and felt tired, but relatively fine. I did notice a weird odor, but I wasn't sure what it was because I was using that medicated spray + Witch hazel and thought that may be it (plus I was so stuffy that I thought I was imagining things). LSS, I had a bad infection. I hope what you have isn't it, but it's good to get it checked anyway.

@photojane: I thought I maybe had an infection bc the smell was like this vague rotting smell...I know- so gross! I was positive I had an infection, but my OB said it's normal and it's just the residual stuff coming out.. I was also scared Inwoud be stuck with that smell! But it went away- it took longer than the bleeding/spotting...I am pretty sure it was gone by 6 or 7 weeks PP? Hopefully that's all it is for you!

Wow, I've been smelly down there for weeks. It diesnt smell infected, it smells like... rotted blood? ew i know. But I'm 4+ weeks postpartum and still bleeding/leaking discharge. When I shower and wash down there, the washcloth is always a nightmare
I'm really looking forward to some semblance of normalcy down there.

I had a smell down there and everything was fine...it was weird though. It went away just after my 6 week appointment.

I also had a gross smell around the same timeframe and everything was fine.

I was so gross PP at 6 weeks I'm starting to feel more normal. The worst part for me were the night sweats. Ack!

@coacheswife123: Man, my first night of night sweats & chills I thought I was dying. I had Dan call the OB, because I was certain that was the end. I stood in the shower for like an hour. PP is a blast.

@PrincessBaby: Totally had the same thing. It was HORRIFYING. But when I called the OB they said it was totally normal, and then I passed the 6-week pp checkup just fine. I'm 7 weeks pp now and it's just about gone.

Ladies - although this is a little terrifying, I'm so glad to know about this beforehand!
My girlfriends know I want all the gory details but they never mentioned this!

@photojane: Add another tally by smelly vag. I also thought something was wrong, but alas, just regular PP for me. And, yes, the waking up drenched from the night sweats too...the first few times i thought it was milk leaking...nope...just me sweating

yeeeeahhhh..... this happened to me. It eventually went away, but it was definitely still around for my 6 week pp check and I asked about it, no infection personally, it was just my body still regulating I guess.
