I got "Mmm... Love that Whole Grain Crunch" but I was almost a super crunchy granola mama score. I didn't think I was THAT crunchy! hahaha!

Super Nutty, Ultra-Crunchy, Granola Earth Mama!
I don't think I'm that crunchy though.

Sprinkled with granola (score of 39). It's right on par with what I percieve myself to be.

27 and "sprinkled". That is surprisingly higher than I thought I would score. I don't consider myself crunchy at all...

just barely pretty crispy-- 61. but if i had to be honest i'd have to take a few points away like we don't exclusively cloth dipe, and a few others.

@mrs. bird: @arden: I am still trying to find a good deodorant. I used Toms and it doesn't work AT ALL. seriously I smelled horrid
so I'm back to dove too...
I know some crunchy moms who go without it!!!.. I'd so never do that.

I got 74 - pretty crispy.
I think for babies the term "crunchy" is ridiculous. Go ask a Thai woman who brings her baby to work in the rice fields if what she's doing is "crunchy".

@Mrs. Pen: Glad to hear about Toms (I almost bought some). I really want a more natural deo but HAVE to have it & it HAS to work (thanks to the genes my dad gave me).
coconut / 8498 posts
@Mrs. Pen: Did you try the regular Toms or the Toms Naturally Dry? The regular is awful. I too smelled nasty. But I really like the Naturally Dry.

91-Mmm! Love that whole-grain crunch.
-No circ
-EBF for 6+ months and counting
-BLW
-Co-bedded for several months
-Cloth diaper
-Baby-wear as much as E will let me (he doesn't really like it much, though)
-In theory I would be fine with tandem nursing (the theory part being I'm not sure we'll have another LO)
-I rarely wear makeup because I'm lazy
-I prefer to be barefoot, and usually throw on flats when I have to leave the house (we don't live in an area where I'd feel comfortable walking outside barefoot).
-I do shave almost everyday, but that's partly because I prefer the way my skin feels when it's closely shaved
-really the only time I've seen the doctor in the past decade for non-pregnancy related issues is when I think I have a bladder infection, and only after downing cranberry juice and water, and only because I ended up getting a kidney infection when I was 19 and had to be hospitalized so I don't play around with them now.
ETA: As far as my child goes I'm not trying to follow a specific parenting philosophy or do something just because it's considered crunchy. I've just done what has felt right for my family at the time (like co-sleeping--something I swore I'd never do but it was the only way we got any sleep the first several months. And I ultimately loved doing it.)

@Arden: i haven't tried jason deodorant (i love their lotions though!), i think i'll look into that one =) the one you linked to has aluminum, which i'd like to avoid, but of course all the ones that work well have it
i tried a tom's one, it was in an off white container- don't remember the name, but it didn't work very well for me & i don't sweat that much =/
@Mrs. Pen: i didn't have good luck with tom's either. i have a crystal roll on one i'm going to try over the weekend (i like to try things when i'm home incase i hate it & wanna shower or if i get a crazy rash or whatever- i've had reactions to deodorant in the past) & i'll see how that one is, or maybe i'll try to find the one from jason

@mrs. bird: I'm trying to find one sans aluminum too...

@FutureMrsMcK: smae here with the co-sleeping. DH and I were so against it and here we are loving every minute of that little nugget in our bed.

Sprinkled with Granola - score of 30. We are environmentally conscious and buy organic where possible....and I babywore....but don't CD, co-sleep, we vaccinate on schedule, see doctors, I tried to breastfeed, we didn't circumcize, I wear shoes (er, live in New England...), wear makeup, wouldn't breastfeed someone else's baby or wouldn't let them breastfeed mine...

62 - pretty crispy (just). Although, I think it's more accurate to say that I'm heavily sprinkled with granola!

@mrs. bird: @Mrs. Pen: Wait, the one I linked to has aluminum?! How did I miss that? *going off to investigate*
honeydew / 7589 posts
@Mrs. Pen: You should try some of the other Tom's ones, because the one I used to use worked great! I would still sweat, but it never smelled.
honeydew / 7589 posts
@mrs. bird: dang, you're right. It does have aluminum. I bought that in my first trimester while super duper sick and out of my mind with morning sickness, and I managed to miss that. Oops. Well then, back to JASON it is.

I have to say that like several others here have stated, I'm not crunchy because I subscribe to the "crunchy mama handbook". I investigate each decision independently and then decide what is best for me and my family. I choose crunchy ways primarily for health reasons, but also for environmental ones.
I do sometimes fall into the left-leaning side politically as well, but I'm not a member of any party because I choose my side of each issue individually based on what I believe is right in that particular situation, not because any political party says so.
But when it comes down to it, I'm pretty darn crunchy.
- I'm a doula, which some have said makes me crunchier than 99% of the population!
I do believe in natural birth and do my best to help women accomplish that, but that doesn't mean I'm anti-epidural or hospitals. I believe they absolutely have their place, but their place isn't for every single birth.
- I'm delivering my baby at a freestanding birth center, drug-free. I would have also considered a home birth but we lived to far from a transfer hospital in case of emergency.
- I'm a vegetarian, but I do so for health reasons more than for environmental ones. I do not believe that one must be vegetarian to be healthy, and I'm considering introducing small amounts of organic meat back into our diet.
- I'm encapsulating and ingesting my placenta, but I know that's not for everyone. I am excited about the health benefits I'll gain from it, and to me placentas are not gross at all so it doesn't really phase me.
- I'm cloth diapering exclusively, from day one. I was cloth diapered, and I've always intended to cloth diaper my children. I'm doing this mostly for health, but also for the environment and for my bank account!
- We eat a organic and sustainable diet as much as we can afford. If we could afford to go 100% organic, I would do it in a heartbeat.
- I believe in (safe) co-sleeping, and plan to co-sleep with our babies as long as it works for our family.
- I believe in extended breastfeeding and I will be doing my best to breastfeed all of my children at least till the age of two, and then let the child lead from there in terms of self-weaning.
- I don't believe in infant circumcision, and we will not be circumcising any of our children as babies. If however my future son were to request circumcision at an age where he was fully aware of his choice, I would have no issues with him making that choice for himself.
- I use all natural cleaning products, some homemade and some store bought.
- We will be homeschooling all of our children all the way through until they are ready for college. I don't believe this is the best option for every family (I think the Montessori method is a fantastic alternative), but it is for us.
- We will be vaccinating on an alternative schedule, and forgoing certain vaccines altogether.
- We plan on baby-led weaning, and we will not be introducing the traditional first foods like rice cereal at all.
- We will be baby-wearing. We haven't even bought a traditional stroller because I don't want to be tempted to use it.
- I'm completely comfortable with tandem nursing, and nursing other people's children/other people nursing my children if the need arose.

Well I answered all the questions with what I plan on doing and got a 147. I always just thought I was half crunchy, maybe I'm a little more than half. But for the record I do not try to be vegan and I do shave and I am conservative.... so whatever that means.

127. I think I'm crunchier than that, honestly. I mean it didn't even ask about my homemade deodorant....

I'm whole grain and would be considered way more if I wasn't so gung ho on western medicine. I love me some health care!

@Mrs. Superhero: Hold up... You MAKE your own deodorant? Please elaborate!

92- love that whole grain crunch.
I actually didn't think I would score that high. We cd, ebf (and I gave my sister my pumped BM for her twins), eat organic when we can, use natural cleaning products, co-slept for part of the night, baby wear, and had an all natural birth.
