This is just me being goofy when I haven't gotten enough sleep, but if your day care had live video feed of your LO's main classroom, do you think you'd watch it?
I don't know, it might be nice to check in ever so often?

Yes, I would! Especially during feeding time...she eats so well at daycare!

Why don't more facilities use something like this?

Yes! I know of one near me that does it.
But what I've heard from other parents is you check all the time in the beginning but less so afterwards.
I know after Tuesday I would be checking all the time.

Yes of course. We have a Foscam in our living room, it's for security purposes when we're not home, but I've used it to check in on our babysitter.

Yeah...but on the whole I don't think it's a good idea. I think it would lead to too much meddling from parents if daycare had that. Maybe that wouldn't be the case, but I would think that with all the helicopter parenting going on these days...the daycare would get so many phone calls over the silliest things.

@regberadaisy: I was totally thinking about you when I saw this thread...
I think that it would build a solid reputation for a daycare that does provide this, because without even watching it you know that they trust they care so much that they don't mind you seeing it. That would be enough for me to say YES to a daycare.
I would totally watch it, maybe not religiously, but I would - maybe once a week?

@looch: does she know that?
I am all for nanny cams, but only if the nanny knows about them. I was a nanny for a family that had multiple nanny cams and they told me, and I thought that was very respectful and courteous.

We toured four daycares and they all had video monitoring systems. Some of them were exclusively for staff/security. One let you remote in for like $25 a month, and the other let you do it for the first month or so while everyone was adjusting, and then cut it off.

Mine does have a webcam and I would watch it religiously... except for the fact that it's been "down" for the past month and it's killing me to not see what she's doing.
