My plan is to work to the last day possible. The risk with that is that I could go into labor at work!

I'm planning to work until the last possible moment too! But very few people (I think something like 11%) have labor start with their water breaking. Most people start off with mild contractions that get more intense and close together over time. So my thinking is that even if labor starts at work I'll have time to calmly excuse myself and head home (or straight to the hospital) without creating a scene. My hospital bag will probably go in my car once I reach 37 weeks just so I'm prepared for that possibility.

I was out and about when my contractions began but they were so mild that it was fine. I had those contractions for a full day but by the time I had to go to the hospital, it was 3am so I was at home.

My water never broke on its own, that was my greatest fear about working up to my due date (I only worked to 34 weeks so the point was moot, but still!).
I sent my husband to work that morning, I wanted some privacy.

I went into labor at work with both kids. It wasn't a big deal for me. I just calmly told my boss I was leaving, packed up the car, and headed to the hospital to have a baby!

At a restaurant. And my water broke. Thankfully I at least finished lunch!

I technically went into labor at work. I started having sporadic contractions during the day but I didn't know they were contractions. By 8pm I knew I was really in labor, but I was home by then.

I was working from home at 39 weeks 1 day when my water broke. I decided the day before that I was done driving into work since I was so swollen and uncomfortable.

Home but I work from home. Both times it was around 5pm, so I would have been at work if I had a normal job!

My water broke at 1am on a Monday morning so I was at home. But looking back I think labor had started on Sunday, I just didn't know it. I was super uncomfortable and my back hurt like crazy. We had gone out to lunch with some friends and then to the in-laws for dinner. The only way I could get comfortable was to stand and sway.... I was only 37 weeks so it didn't even cross my mind that I could be in labor.

@c.sassy: It is 30 minutes from my house if there is no traffic. My parents came in from California, and since there was no grandbaby yet, they said "let's go to Mount Vernon" and I said "maybe we'll get to leave early because I'm in labor." LOL
It was a Sunday, so I wouldn't have been at work, but I stopped work at 38 weeks due to swelling and inability to do the fine motor skills required for my job.

@pastemoo: We walked around Old Town Alexandria for about 8 hours trying to induce labor. It started that night.

I was in early labor for awhile and went to work during parts of it but when I decided it was time to go to the hospital I was at home! My water didnt break until after I was admitted to the hospital and when I was like 6cm dilated. It did break on it's own.

I started getting contractions in the middle of the night.
