So I'm going to order Soft Tiles for our living room since LO is becoming mobile and we have hardwood floors. Do you think I need to get the borders as well? Any thoughts from mamas who have these? I kind of wish we had a bigger space since some of the designs are so cute!

I think they look nice too, but DH seems to think they are a rip-off.

We don't have them but I think if we did I would want the boarders. I feel like the edges would get caught on things or LO and may harm the lifespan of the product.

I don't have soft tiles, but we had ceramic tile floors (!) for a while, so I bought some of the foam mat puzzles like the Alex Toys Giant Floor Puzzle. We still put them together once and a while, even though LO doesn't need the protection from the floor anymore--they have some extended utility. I also used a couple yoga mats for cushioning.

@dolphin: I know you weren't asking me, but I just bought a huge mat + the border. I think it's 100% worth it because I'm a klutz and I would trip over it without the border.

we bought the borders and they do help so that you don't trip on the edges, but not 100% necessary if you want to skip them.

i just wasn't sure because they are already so pricy! but from what i've been reading everyone loves them so they must be worth it!

We have the borders and love them! When LO was first starting to crawl it really helped to keep her from tripping over the mat edge. She has learned how to take the borders apart, but I figure she would do that to the tiles if we didn't have the borders

@dolphin - yes, I did bind up buying the borders and think they're great, but as others have said, I don't think they're always necessary. It does give me a little more peace of mind to have them now that LO is walking since she doesn't always look down and has tripped on lips of the rug, etc.
