@krsmall: I'm not sure about the rules yet since we've only been in there a couple of times. I'll definitely ask! DH and talked about how to make our visits have kind of a routine so it feels nicer for us even when we can't hold him. So we'll get a book or two and keep working on the rest.

@MrsGreenGrass Does your son have a name yet? Or are you choosing not to share? How are you feeling about/processing everything?

Congratulations! You've been through a lot -- I hope you are taking each moment/step as they come and doing ok. Would love to see a photo of little GG.

@Trailmix: I'm just not sharing publicly, but yes...we've had a name for ages.
I'm processing okay. I'm a little more emotional today, but it's just natural decompression from all I've been through. I also haven't had much time to myself the last few days and I need to be by myself to decompress, cry, etc.
I'm still extremely optimistic and just trying to take it day by day.

@Mrs Green Grass: It's hard because you know there will be ups and downs in the next 15 weeks or so as your baby continues to grow and develop in the outside world...
You've got a whole team rooting for him though!

@Mrs Green Grass: Oh, you are so strong! The emotional roller coaster is normal with an easy situation but with yours it is even more ok to feel that way. It will be a tough 15 weeks and we're all here for you!

Day 3 Update:
Baby is on a ventilator, but breathing regular air. He can breathe on his own, he just forgets to keep doing it consistently.
He has a Level 2 brain bleed (out of 4) which they will recheck Thursday. Level 2 is not a major concern and is very common. Hopefully it will not progress. (Apparently preemies have capillaries in their brains that would have gone away by birth which is why they get brain bleeds so easily.)
He's going to get his first blood transfusion today. His counts are just slightly low, but they keep sticking him every day and he can't make enough to compensate.
Overall, they are really happy with his progress so far. He is relatively stable, no major issues at the moment. But they constantly warn us that babies often start well and then problems develop.
I'm pretty sure I'm going home today!! I haven't been home since September 21st!

@Mrs Green Grass: Great update for today, what a positive step for you to be able to go home. I hope you little mans progress continues positively, however being prepared that progress could slow or regress as you mentioned is also good just in case -will be good to remember this positive if there is a regression, and look forward to the next positive step for him!
