I want her to love to dance. I used to dance ALL THE TIME growing up, but she will only do it if a friend/cousin starts to dance. I would have dance parties in the living room with her non-stop if she was into it!

My first lesson in parenting humility was over the stroller. I was adamant that we HAD to have a bassinet for the stroller because it's so much better for the baby than being in the car seat all the time. Except she would SCREAM every time I put her in it, in my big expensive fancy UB, and be fine in the car seat and snap and go. I finally broke down and got the car seat adapter for the UB and realized that she has her own opinions.

Lucky for me she loves reading and is starting to love drawing and painting, which makes me so happy because I love art and always wanted to do it with my kids.

I want to enroll my son in some type of activity on the weekend, be it gymnastics or karate, swimming etc. But he seriously freaks out and doesn't participate. When I was a kid, all I wanted to do was take lessons, all weekend, lol!

I'm not sad about it but just sort of surprised by how little she is interested in drawings/arts/crafts. I loved that stuff as a kid.

Snuggling
I wish I had a more affectionate toddler. He can be really sweet when he wants to but he never just wants to sit in my lap, cuddle, nap together etc. He even goes so far as to squiggle off my lap stand beside the rocker for our bedtime stories. JUST SNUGGLE WITH ME DARN IT

@ElbieKay: I do hear you on that. DH is super into golf and really really really wants our kids to like it. I'll be sad for him if neither of them ever want to play with him. But I also think he needs to realize that HE can get into whatever they are into too. Like, if they'd rather play soccer than basketball, he can learn about soccer and coach that instead of coaching basketball like he envisioned. Or whatever. He's coming around.

@catlady: Same here. I can't believe how much he dislikes painting and drawing and coloring. I thought all kids were into that stuff.

@hummusgirl he's 20 months... But we keep trying it occasionally.

hahahahaha! I'm guilty of this as well with somethings, but the one thing I wish he would love his a blankie/lovey! I love my blanket and he absolutely despises all things blanket. womp womp.

My son would not take a paci which really would have helped in those colicky newborn days.

He is also not cuddly or snugly at all, hated babywearing or cosleeping, and does not care at all about books either.

He also really doesn't like food all that much except during growth spurts, which we don't get cuz DH and I are piglets.

Ponies. There's a pony riding school in town and they have Shetland ponies. I've been fantasying about her riding one and looking all LOTR (cue a scene in Hobbiton). But she's scared of them! We've repeated tried to get her to ride one and the last time, we even paid and she got as far as wearing the helmet before she refused and exclaimed, "it's dangerous!" Omg

@lilyann: oh yeah, I would love for him to have a lovey or a security blanket, but nope!

Two things, but I'm not sure yet if he'll love them or not.

I want him to love music and want to continue playing an instrument - it doesn't matter to me which instrument! Though I'm partial to piano/violin.
And I know it's super cliche, but I want him to love learning haha.

Comforters, or soft toys or blankie type things. He immediately throws anything in his cot over the edge and has never ever wanted to cuddle anything to bed. It's so funny how I really want him to have a security blanket but he wants no part of it.

There is hope! My mom tried to get me to watch Star Wars when I was little, and I was NOT interested. But around 13 I changed my mind and now I'm the biggest Star Wars fan you'll ever meet. So don't give up! Also, we should be friends.

Peanut butter. Why, children of mine, why don't you like it?!?

@thismustbetheplace: yes! I trick them out of her by holding her for book time and baby wearing, but for the most part, she's too busy. I've been teaching her to hug and kiss her stuffed owl in hopes that it will transfer to us!
