My son went from pooping once every two or three days to every day several times a day with several varieties of poop. I'm a little worried. The poop is very greenish yellow. The biggest change I've made lately is giving him puréed veggies nieces with fruit since he won't touch veggies on their own anymore and u also hoped it would help with his constipation. He has had today and yesterday several poops. Two were paste like and mushy but not mucusy, one was pebble like dark brown and the other was green and kind of a mix or pebbled and clumped. He also cried pretty hysterically during the two loose ones and his butt looked very red where the poop had been after i cleaned it up. he was fine right after though. I put butt paste cream on it. If this happens again tomorrow ill take him to the doctor but I'm wondering if any of you have dealt with this. He is almost 20 months. Thank you!

We haven't seen many changes in the kids poop ever since they turned toddlers but hope your LO feels better!

My daughter is 21 months and has rainbow poop colors all the time. Doc said it was fine.

@MrsMccarthy: at my sons 18 month check up is put that I felt his stool was normal with changes in the solids he was eating. Example: today he had an almost black with orange and he ate blueberries and carrots last night. The think I would be most concerned about is why he's crying during BM. DS never cries or strains he mostly hides under his play table.

My LO is 20 months and she has different looking poop all the time. She usually goes 2-3x a day too.
I bet your son's changes in BMs are due to dietary changes. Not sure why he would cry though.

Thank you all so much for sharing. He woke up screaming and it was even worse diaper rash when I changed his diaper. No more poop though. He finally just settled down. I wish I knew what was going on. My husband really doesn't want us to take him in unless we see the same thing tomorrow. I hope he feels better then.

@MrsMccarthy: Do you think T is about to start working on his two year molars? A always has terrible diaper rash when she works on teeth!

Has he been eating anything acidic lately? My daughter gets a rash after eating too many tomatoes or oranges- regardless of how long the poop is in the diaper.
What kind of fruits are you giving him? I think berries can be acidic.And just FYI regarding color, my husband is a doctor (in his pediatric residency) and says that the only colors to freak out about are white or clay colored, black (like old blood, not dark brown), or red. And even with red....its not an emergency. Everything else is within the range of normal, especially for babies who still don't have mature digestive systems and aren't breaking everything down.

Our ped told us what @Silva: said. Before lo would poop the same looking poop once every other day and now I get three to four completely different poops per day. I was assured that nothing is wrong

@Silva: thank you so so so much! I've been making him purreed broccoli and mixing that with applesauce so maybe it's the applesauce that needs to go?

Try changing his diet for a few days and see if that makes the difference. The teething causing the diaper rash also makes sense.
Oh! Applesauce is very constipating!
