Mine took 2 weeks vacation. The small business he worked for didn't offer official parental time off.

My husband's job doesn't offer parental leave, although they are covered by FMLA, so he could've taken 12 weeks if he wanted to. He ended up taking 4 weeks and 5 weeks or vacation respectively for the births of our boys.

With DDs 1 and 2, DH got two weeks of paid paternity leave and took all of it - those first two weeks with each of our girls was absolutely magical! I fully attribute that to the reason why I never found the newborn days difficult.
With this baby, DH will have a month off and we can't wait!

His company offers 6 weeks of paid bonding leave. He added a week of vacation and took off 7 weeks with #1, 6 weeks with #2, and 5 weeks with #3.
