With my old dog we used to just take him to this random groomer around the corner and they would basically just shave him down. He looked nice when it grew out slightly, a few weeks after it was cut. He was a small dog, but he had a sturdy little body so the close cut looked fine.
However, my new dog is only 7 and a half pounds and really skinny. When he gets wet and his fur sticks to his body he looks like a drowned rat lol. I'm afraid if they were to cut him close like they did with my old dog he'd look ridiculous. I've also heard that his breed's fur grows very slowly, so if I got him cut short it could be months and months before it grows out.
His fur is getting kinda long and it's getting to be more maintenance. I used to brush him around once a week, now I've been doing it 3-4 times a week because he's getting knots so easily. Also, his fur is getting weighed down by the length and he doesn't look "fluffy" like he did before. I wish I could get his hair cut back to the length it was 3 months ago, about an inch off everywhere evenly.
The thing is, I'm pretty sure the groomer I've gone to in the past just uses a razor to cut the fur short for every dog. Is there a such thing as a groomer who would kinda just trim his fur? Or does this plainly not exist?
Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?
