I have been washing my Spectra backflow protectors after each pump. Is this necessary?

i clean them when i clean my pump parts. i don't clean after each pump when i'm pumping all day, so i wouldn't say after each pump, but i did see milk in there when i was taking it apart, so i take it apart and clean!

I did. I didn't start seeing milk accumulation until near the end of my pumping journey, but I found that even just the moisture from normal pumping can cause mildew.
