i used to. best money i ever spent! now it's not in the budget=( once it's clean, it's easier to maintain and when you know they're coming, it made me want to straighten up a little before she got there.

she used to wash the floors, dust, vacuum the furniture, clean the fridge/microwave, polish tables, clean bathroom, etc. in other words, all the stuff i didn't feel like doing=D

I'm on the "I wish" side of things. That is probably something we will never spend the money on. MAN I would love it but....meh.

I would love to have someone come clean the bathrooms, vacuum, and dust! I have no problem keeping my kitchen pretty clean, loading and unloading the dishwasher, sweeping and mopping hardwood floors, cleaning the fridge, keeping up with laundry and keeping the house clutter free but I absolutely hate bathrooms and dusting...I don't love vacuuming but I'll do it. I'm a SAHM though so I feel like its my "job" to keep the house clean. My husband definitely helps when he's home but I try to do most of it while he's at work so we can enjoy our time together

We are actually going to have a cleaning lady starting very soon. We are just shopping around and asking for referrals right now. We'll have her come once every two weeks which is what I grew up with. It didn't used to be worth the money since I was perfectly capable of doing it myself. But I have really no been feeling well with this pregnancy and I spent my weekends laid out on the couch. After doing a full cleaning of the bathroom recently hubs announced to me that we should get a cleaning lady for the duration of my pregnancy and at least the first year of baby's life. I fell in love with him all over again. : )

I plan on having a housekeeper come 1-2x a month once I go back to work- just need someone to do things I hate: mop, clean the bathrooms and dust.

Never had one until I became a pregnant working mom to a toddler. Then a bunch of events popped up during my first trimester (wagon jr's birthday party, the holidays, etc) so we buckled and hired a service. The initial clean was pricey but now they come once a month and do everything but bedrooms for $150.

@MamaMoose: really?? Where in ma? Also, how often did they come? It was hard to even find a service that would agree to come once a month.. Usually they will only do twice a month.

Ours makes us happy and prevents fights. In addition our new nanny plans to do light house keeping so it will be clean and tidy!

@mrs. wagon: I grew up in Chelmsford so it's the burbs but it's not like we were way out there!! Ours came every two weeks. But it was just two ladies who basically ran their own little business... they didn't work for a service. I think you would get a much better price if you didn't use a service where they are taking money off the top away from the cleaners.

We have one - I was SO against it at first, but DH convinced me to have her come just one time, and then I was hooked. She cleans EVERYTHING! (floorboards, blinds, fans, pantry, fridge, bed, kitchen, bathrooms... everything) She comes every two weeks, so that just leaves me with a bit of tidying up in between.

We used to have a housekeeper every other week, but DH and I agreed that we would cut that from the budget when LO was born because I'm home now for a full year and am able to do housework while I'm on mat leave. I totally miss having her come, and it's way more work to keep a clean house while at home with LO than I expected, but I can't warrant having her come when I'm here all the time.

We have a housekeeper that comes once a week. We only got one after LO was born because I just couldn't keep up the house anymore. It's really cheap where we live, so I think we'll keep having her come until we leave here. I have her do: dusting, mopping, bathrooms (everything), kitchen (everything), change bed sheets, and one load of laundry while she's doing everything else.

We have one that comes about every 6-8 weeks mostly for deep cleaning (cleaning blinds, oven, fridge, etc), but I think once I hit the 6 month mark in my pregnancy we might bump that up to every 2 weeks. We'll probably keep that schedule until we feel like we can take it back over again after the baby is born (or keep them forever if I can convince my husband).

@MsLipGloss: @MamaMoose: come to think of it... $70 every two weeks vs. $150 every month is not that different.

We have someone come every other week. I pay $50, but it's a deal for me because I've known their family forever. Her mom started cleaning my mom's house when my older sister was born, so I've literally known them my whole life.

She dusts, mops the floors, vacuums, bathrooms and kitchen, and change the sheets if I need it.

For me it's necessary, all that going on my hands and knees to clean plus the chemical smells give me migraines. So worth the money.
