What was your experience? I didn't have back labor with baby #1 and I had posterior placenta...
But this time I plan to go pain-med free and I have anterior placenta so I'm scared that I may have back labor and if I do...I'll most likely get the epidural!
Does anyone know if there is correlation between labor difficulty and position of the placenta?

With my first lo I had an anterior placenta and experienced back labor which wasn't so bad when someone applied pressure to my lower back

I also had an anterior placenta and no back labor. From what I've heard back labor can happen when the baby is face up, which can happen often with an anterior placenta. Luckily my baby was face down.

I have an anterior placenta--but currently baby is facing my spine... so hopefully he stays that way and doesn't cause any back labor.

I don't think it's the placenta but the placement of the baby that causes back labor. Don't worry about it! If the baby is facing the proper way, you probably won't get back labor. At least that's what I've been told.

II had an anterior placenta and had back labor....but my dd was funny side up which is what I think caused it.

I had anterior placenta but no back labor. My baby was not posterior. I was really interested (maybe a little obsessive) about baby positioning and did lots of yoga and stuff to try to get the baby in a good position. I followed a lot of the advice on the spinning babies website, although I hesitate to recommend the website 100% because it really stressed me out!

It is more common with an anterior placenta for baby to be facing sunny-side up BUT laboring on your back is an even bigger contributor.
I had an anterior placenta & had only 2 contractions out of my 2 days worth that I felt in my back. I spent my last few weeks of pregnancy doing alot of cat/cow & the moment I felt the back contraction start you better believe I was back in hands & knees! lol (letting your tummy "hang" will promote baby turning anterior)

Well... he was sunny side up after all. Thank you, anterior placenta. When are you due? Can you ask for an ultrasound when you go to L&D? If you can move around during labor, you may be able to flip your LO.
