Someone mentioned that she'd like to see more content on the blog... that got me wondering: just how much more content?
Right now, the blog updates about five times a day. How many times a day would you ideally like to see the blog update?

Whoa. I think 5x a day is good. I was thinking 4.
It'd be nice if you updated over the weekend though!

25 times a day! Just kidding... but if it's five times a day now, ten times a day would be twice as awesome, so that's my vote.
ETA: I just wanted to clarify -- I recognize that it takes a great deal of work to build up a site as nice as HB is and also to find committed and talented bloggers... I didn't mean to sound unappreciative of all the time and work that has been put into this site. It's just that I love the blog so much, I wish there were more!

I am happy with the number of times per day it updates. if I get bored & am searching for something to do, I always come to the boards and I'd much rather have the quantity of the boards & the quality of the blog posts.

I think the 4-5 times a day is a good number. Of course I wouldn't complain if it was more.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
I like the current amount of blog posts - it's not so overwhelming to catch up on if you are away for a day or so!
cherry / 112 posts
I agree with @winniebee that I like the current number of posts as it's hard for me to get here every day, but I still feel able to catch up with posts (rather than just marking all as read since it seems overwhelming!)
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
I agree. I was going to say 3-5 posts a day, so knowing that you already do 5 seems perfect to me. I mean, maybe a little more would be fine, but I'd hate for it to get overwhelming. I like to be able to catch up when I miss a few days.

your feedback is awesome. our goal for this site was to update less frequently, and focus on each post being great.
i'm hoping to add more bees and guest contributors in the new year so that we have a wider range of content -- from nursery inspiration to party inspiration to real life ttc/pregnancy/parenting stories to guides/printables/checklists... and a diy section yay!

I like the frequency on HB a lot more than on WB. I was always overwhelmed on WB and ended up not following people or investing time into their stories because there were just so many of them.

I think that it would be nice to have a wider range of content but that already seems to be the goal so it's all good. Thanks!

For me I just wish there were more bloggers (but I know it's something they're working on and I understand it takes A LOT of work to do that). But part of that is because as much as I enjoy the Mommy bloggers I would much rather be reading more pregnant bloggers since that's where I am right now.

Weddingbee updates too frequently for me to keep up with on a regular basis. I am forced to scan many of the posts.
On here, I can easily read every single post in its entirety and I like it. I think the frequency here is perfect.

I like it how it is now. I think if you updated a lot more I'd have trouble keeping up.
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6703 posts
I like that it is 5x a day and wouldn't go much more than that, but I also agree that weekend updates would be nice. Would it be possible to set a few posts to auto-post?
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@MaisyMay: We may update a few times a day on the weekends, once we have more bloggers.
But for now, Mrs. Bee has her hands full with Olive and Charlie, so this would be a ways away!!
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
I like how much you update now. Since most members here seem like busy parents I'm not sure how easy it would be to keep up with any more blog posts a day.

I love the number of posts because I never get behind. I can't wait for a TTC Bee to join the hive.
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
I mean, I am never satisfied, but I totally understand that is not realistic I think anything more than one post a day is really awesome, especially with the low number of bloggers you have right now.
pear / 1639 posts
I was thinking like 3 or 4! Its hard to keep up with them all the time!
honeydew / 7968 posts
i think it's a good #. i agree with @chopsuey119 - would love an update or 2 during the weekend. maybe delay some of the postings to post on the weekend?
kiwi / 718 posts
I agree with @venice4504 - please don't up it to the volume that wb has. that's way overwhelming & I really like the fact that I can read each post & not feel like I have to scan b/c there's so much
grapefruit / 4187 posts
What I like about the blog posts as they stand is the quality, like Mr. Bee mentioned. I've already read about 15 that I need to go back and add to my favorites so I can read them again when the time comes. They are all so well written and informative and a lot of the time topics that people either don't talk about or sugarcoat.
I would say if you're going to post more often, only post a few more per day. I definitely prefer quality over quantity and I think the site has achieved that!
blogger / pomelo / 5400 posts
I think I'd like to see a max of 8-10 or so. A bit more, but as others say, not so much that I can't catch up on the fellow bees.
pineapple / 12793 posts
@tana_bk: I agree! We need a TTC Bee!
I like the frequency of posts. Five-ish is good. Otherwise I get overwhelmed if I miss a day or two.
GOLD / pomelo / 5167 posts
I agree! 5x times is enough. If not we can't keep up. I definitely don't want it to become a weddingbee. I stopped reading because I felt bad I couldn't keep up.
Looking forward to new bees though. And a TTCing bee would be great for the TTCing ladies!
clementine / 750 posts
TTC BEE please soon. I thought there were only about three updates a day. I think eventually 8 to 10 would be a good number especially if they were divided between Pregnancy, TTC, and Mommies.
admin / watermelon / 14210 posts
adding ttc bloggers has been a bit of a challenge because there is no telling how long it might take someone to conceive. our initial plan was to have them blog for 3 months, or have someone blog about a specific fertility treatment like going through clomid or ivf. what do you guys think?
as far as more updates, i always thought we'd keep the number below 8/day. i find it hard to keep up with sites that update more often than that. sometimes even 8 seems like too much and i click "mark all as read." we'll see how it goes!
apricot / 460 posts
I think 6-7 a day would be great! And I agree that a TTC blogger would be so fun, it would be great if in the future you could get a couple that would let you know a time frame they'll be starting TTC and then they could start blogging then. Since, like you said it could happen in just one month (those lucky ladies!).
pomegranate / 3045 posts
I think somewhere from 5-7 times a day is great. I have really enjoyed that I can actually keep up with all of the blog posts in a day! So if it is easiest for you guys, the 5x is fine with me!
I have also really appreciated the quality of blogs coming through. I agree it would be nice to have a TTC Bee, but I can see how that would be difficult. Perhaps you could have the TTC Bee blog for ~4 months or so, and then another could start? I don't know. I guess it depends on whether they get pregnant in that time or not; I would definitely want to follow them as a preggo Bee! BUT, I could also see how it would be kind of a slap in the face for a TTC Bee to be told, "okay, it's been 4 months, sorry, you need to stop," particularly when the TTC journey can be so difficult for many.
That's a toughie!

@Mrs. Bee: I know a few women who have been TTC for a while and could write posts about what happened in the past and issues they've struggled with and how they've dealt with them. Then, once they catch up with the present day, they could blog from there on. If they do conceive, yay! If not, they could write about if they decided to take a break, stop all together, use a surrogate, adopt, etc.

3 - 5 is a good number in my opinion. Actually, it seems like it has been a lot lately and I can't keep up...
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@sweetchic: The last three weeks, three days had 5 posts, two days had 4 posts, and both weekend days had 0 posts!
This week so far, there' s been two 5 posts days and one 4 post day (today)...
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
I think it depends on how many bloggers you have. Right now the site is new and there are just a few bloggers. That can make it difficult to post a lot of blog posts a day. I think once the blogger count goes up, the amount of posts per day could go up a bit, as well. 8 posts a day sounds like a good number to me once there is a larger pool of blog posts to choose from. At this point I could see it being difficult to do as many as 5 a day without blogger burnout!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. Bee: Are you planning on having ALL the bees only blog for 3 months or so? Or was that time frame something specific to TTC Bees? I know that you want to be able to incorporate new bees as time goes on without the updates getting overwhelming, but I think once we get to know a Bee, we'd probably appreciate them being able to post for as long as they want to, or for at least a certain leg of their journey. Like if it's a Pregnant Bee, let them post until they give birth. If it's a Mommy Bee, let them post until their children is a certain age. And if it's a TTC Bee, let them post until they get pregnant. Or until they decide to stop on their own, regardless of how long?
admin / watermelon / 14210 posts
@Adira: I've found in the past that about 6 months is a good tenure for a blogger. After that they kind of naturally update less. And bees can always pop in to provide updates -- we wouldn't kick them off the site after a specific amount of time.
3 months was a figure I came up with only for TTC bees. What if it took them years to conceive? Would they have enough to share with readers for that long? I haven't 100% figured out the logistics yet. With pregnant bloggers they can write til they give birth. With mom bloggers they can write until a certain age. But with ttc bloggers, it's more open ended.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. Bee: Do you have to decide something specific for the TTC Bees? Or could you just leave it open-ended for them to decide? Like maybe tell them "We'd really like it for you to blog regularly for at least three months, and then after that, you can decide if you want to continue blogging or not and for how long."
I think for those new to TTC, they'll have plenty to say, even if they don't get pregnant in those first few months. It'll all be new and exciting. They can talk about their original doctors appointments, taking prenatals, whether they are charting or not, etc. Even if it doesn't result in a pregnancy, I'm sure they'll still have interesting things to talk about.
For those that are further along in their TTC journey, they could always write a few posts about their beginnings and then talk about where they are not in terms of different treatments they might be trying, or avenues they're exploring, etc.
admin / watermelon / 14210 posts
@Adira: i'd like to set a general timeframe (eg 6 months) for bloggers, so that we're regularly sharing new stories and don't have too many bloggers on the site at once.
but what that timeframe is for ttc bloggers, i don't know. it could take them a long time to get pregnant, but if they get pregnant, they probably want to blog about their pregnancy and then parenthood. the tenure is just a little trickier with ttc bloggers.
i think we have to just have to see how it goes!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. Bee: haha, yeah, maybe you'll just have to try one out and see what happens!
